What single player FPS campaign are you playing?

RTS, FPS, Sports, Adventure, etc.

Heh. Makes it fun when you try for 100% and you realize they won't stop coming out of those black cross spots on the walls. My favorite part was blasting open the lockers where the brown aliens would be in sometimes. There are a lot of neat hidden secrets, check out the completed map screens when you find all the secrets in a level!

My problem was the ceiling guns that only could be taken out with 2 weapons (and NOT the plasma discharge unit!)
Yeah, I remember getting nuked by those things wondering why they just wouldn't die.

To its credit, Blake Stone does some really cool things that other early FPS games don't. Another memorable bit for me is the Dr. Goldfire holograms coming out of nowhere.

Planet Strike also lets you blow up doors with the anti-plasma cannon which was kind of mind blowing at the time.

Also I always feel horrible when I hit an informant who screams, "NOT ME!"

This was another double xp weekend in Killing Floor 2, so I took the time to get every perk currently in the game to at least level 5. In the process I discovered I dislike playing as the Gunslinger immensely. It is now my least favorite perk. Conversely, Demolitions is awesome, but you need to be on top of your game to make it through the waves of enemies. I find I use my knife a ton when rolling demo.

So Flying Wild Hog is doing a loyalty discount for Hard Reset: Redux. If you own Hard Reset on Steam or Shadow Warrior (2003) on either Steam or GOG you can get Hard Reset: Redux for 85% off for the lifetime of the game. Which works out to the game costing $3. That's worth playing through a rebalanced game again.

Completed Call of Juarez: Bound In Blood. Awesome western FPS. I'll be writing more about it over at the Games Beaten thread!

Now to a different "Call", Call of Duty World At War for Together Retro this month!

That got a lot of shit, and it wasn't nearly as good as the old Medal of Honor games or the first two Call of Duty games, but it was a fuck ton better than Call of Duty 3, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. What system are you playing on? It was (obviously) a graphically gimped version, but I played through it on Wii and had a great time.

I plan to get back to Doom this weekend finally and finish it off. Two levels left I believe.

After that, I really do have an itch to play Quake. Any recommendations for good source ports or whatever on Win7? Maybe something with controller support even. I'll hopefully be playing it on my 50" TV.

I don't like doing anything too weird to old games that some source ports can do. All I really need is the option for high resolutions and that's usually enough for me to be happy.

I'd love to hit up Quake 2 again as well. That I've only played on the PSX, but I have a Quake collection from years back so I have the CD versions to work with.

Dark Places is the go to source port for Quake 1.

Quake 2 plays fine on its default engine these days; it was programmed to allow you to scale the resolution up as far as your video card supports and it handles widescreen gracefully.
