Ok, i've advised the Host that I am cancelling their service so not renewing the service.

I am assuming they will not close the site until 18th June, up to the point I paid up to previously, however you never have guarantees with hosting companies!

So, if you want modding information from the site please view it sooner than later before it goes!

Great fastbilly1 - go for it.

Use what you want from the old site to enhance Racketboy to make it even more awesome please! The information on the bacman site has been gathered over about 7 years modding so quite a lot there - shame if it all vanishes after all.

Update - uploaded backup of the site to view it offline (a site backup program I used rather than a Wordpress backup), gave fastbilly1 the link to the file; hope that helps.

YES!! Thank You, too much valuable information!

I have already saved some of the pages under a folder called "Bacteria Mods" on my hard drive; edited out all dashes and apostrophes for folder and CDR compatibility and clarity. Might eventually pull them all, thanks Bacteria, some truly great informative articles!

Oop, forgot to edit out the ' above (7800 file name), this would affect the CDR backup. Resaved the Web page.

For now maybe just save all the complete individual web pages and subfolders to a Mod only access folder on Racketboy before the shutdown? The pages can then be edited to match links inside the Racketboy site. The data is so valuable; recommend its own Folder Index right in the Board Thread.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Placing all Bacteria's Guides in the Forum instead of Published Article under Bacteria's account allows two important features.

1. The Forum quicker to set up instead of a reedited published article and can include ALL of Bacteria Mods with attachment JPGs in each Reply to prevent loss from a picture share site; each console individual mod could be its own "Reply". The OP could be setup as the Front page indexed linked to each Reply on Racketboy all pulled from Bacteria's older site.

2. More importantly, this allows Bacteria the option of editing existing and adding new mods since he would have immediate access to all his articles. No need to wait for another published article for any revisions. This supports new fresh ideas from Bacteria in posting right away.

Even the JPGs could be saved separately if the text is part of it.
For instance, this quick snippet from the old site, so useful!

On my phone, so it'd be cumbersome to do, but can the site be archived via Wayback Machine?

I am pleased my contribution is being embraced by this site so the guides will continue being available to those who find them useful.

I have archived the site and it is available for download for off-line viewing:

bacman.co.uk/bacman site offline.zip

It should be available for download until 17th June so you have time to download it, however i'd recommend getting it now if you are going to want it; only 70Mb so not large.

All the photos and images are stored on the FTP in Wordpress so they will go when the site shuts, however they could be easily uploaded to Racketboy and then not be in danger of being lost like images do on sites like tinypic and others. If the Admin need them, let me know.

The file above extracts to each page which is quite handy.

Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou!
Looking forward to your dedicated spot here on Racketboy and new mods you come up with!

After downloading and extracting the Zip file, I turned off my Internet connection and confirmed all the pages including pictures are intact. Nice, just run Index.HTML in the root folder!

@ Bacteria -The zip file videos are linked to YouTube. Will the videos stay intact once the sit goes down?

Note the Browser address; the entire web page is downloaded on the hard drive, added shortcut to Start Menu. :D

YouTube videos are remaining on YouTube so will remain there and available. I didn't upload videos to my Host only pictures.

Not sure how you are integrating the information on Racketboy from the description so please provide links when done. Will be interesting!

@ Mods - Any update on the migration? Will it have its own dedicated section in the Forum to encourage new Bacteria mod posts or be a set of published articles?

@ Everyone - The Web Site will be going away in a couple of weeks if not sooner. Download Bacteria's generous Zip file of the entire site while you can!

Good to read that for the videos; they run correctly right in your archive that I downloaded. Everything runs just fine offline; just need online connection for the embedded YouTube Videos. The videos too can be extracted to the hard drive and archived to a DVD ROM for offline viewing.

For the screenshot above, I just captured the Bacteria Page image off my desktop just to

It will be on the main page as a set of articles with the only change to the original content being a header.
