Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
I just noticed Ack listed a list of unfinished FPS games. Of all those I recommend these the most:
Kingpin: Life of Crime
Outlaws
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Strife
System Shock
Thief Gold*
Thief II*
Thief 3*
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon
There were some games in your list I haven't played yet though:
Consortium
F.E.A.R. 2
Far Cry 2
FIrestarter
I.G.I. 2
Magrunner: Dark Pulse
Metro 2033
Metro Last Light
Nosferatu: Wrath of Malachi
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath
Redline
Shadow Warrior (2013)
Codename: Outbreak
Ziggurat
I own copies of most, but no opinion on those yet.
*Wouldn't really consider these FPS either.

PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
I realize that calling Thief an FPS is playing fast and loose with it, but I can definitely see how they served as inspiration for many FPS games to come, so I wanted to make sure they were included in a genre that I love and adore. Eventually I hope to get to them all and keep adding them to the list of FPS I've already beaten on GOG.

I recommend the shit out of FEAR. I don't recommend FEAR 2 or FEAR 3.

I honestly really like 2 the graphics are great on PC and the story isn't to bad either and some of the environments are downright awesome.
The expansions for FEAR are awesome as well and I highly recommend them.
F3ar(Fear 3) however is a colossal shit stain of a game. I put it back in my backlog after playing the first lvl. About the only thing worthwhile would be the co-op but in order to play the second character you have to complete the game so your options are quite limited if you just want to run through with a buddy
.
I also find it hilarious how FEAR 2 took the idea of a game making you it's bitch and made it a reality. Story spoiler:

I would put this up to the lack of Craig Hubbard in the later games. Genius designer behind No One Lives Forever and NOLF2.ElkinFencer10 wrote:I recommend the shit out of FEAR. I don't recommend FEAR 2 or FEAR 3.

Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
I snagged Duke 3D when they were giving it away for free for a day thankfully.ExedExes wrote: THAT'S GONE TOO? Glad I got that (on sale)!
The Duke games are supposed to be coming back once they sort things out with the new rights holders but it's been a while now.
Descent is probably going to be eternally in limbo though unless Interplay pays the royalties owed and they probably won't.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Ghost Recon is great. It's much better on the PC too. Be sure to grab the expansion packs.Ack wrote:Yeah, sorry man, all of those are gone too. I'd actually beaten XIII by the time it popped up on GOG, but as I no longer had access, I swooped it up as soon as I could. This is just GOG though; like you said, if I included everything, this list would get a lot longer. And I'm also looking to hopefully knock out a few of these over the summer. Turok: Dinosaur Hunter came first, now I'm on Thief Gold, but I'm looking at Call of Duty 2 next month myself. And then the likes of System Shock, Magic Carpet, and Ghost Recon are all possibilities after that. I've got some great gaming choices in my future.

Besides the malware debates, Fast is correct in that the digital signature on its protection drivers were only valid on Windows 7 and earlier. On a Win 8/10 machine, it won't install and as a result, the game won't complete installation.

I'm with Fragems here. I recently replayed 2 a few years ago and while I've always liked the first game more, the second is still absolutely amazing. Both have outstanding enemy AI and the combat is really visceral and exciting. Still holds up very well. Slow mo done well. Cool classic Robocop-like mecha, etc. The pacing is like perfect in these games to me, I like FPS's that have a little exploration and downtime to take in the atmosphere and they did it well.Fragems wrote:I honestly really like 2 the graphics are great on PC and the story isn't to bad either and some of the environments are downright awesome.

3 is fucking garbage and Warner Bros studios whatever basically killed the franchise. Though if I recall 2 didn't really sell very well.
Condemned 1-2 were awesome as well, moreso the first one. I'm still pretty bummed that Monolith Studios are basically nothing thesedays.

I found a lot of the weapons in 2 to be unsatisfying to use.
