I'm in the hate Apples camp - so i'm already intrigued.
EDIT: amazon question: Does this game have any game breaking cards like Chuck Noris, who would win by default in any implied scenario?
Chuck Norris is still breaking things. Darn you, Chuck Norris. (I know, I have to be careful).

Moved from an urban location to a rural one, and had kids. Baord gaming has been a rare pleasure over the past... five (?) years but it seems to be ramping back up with some friends and family now.strangenova wrote:...
Anyways you guys ever have your gaming group just fall apart and you have to go long periods without being able to play? It's the biggest fault and the biggest positive with board games vs video games, I need people to play with!
I think swings in interest for any form of entertainment are a natural thing. The same happens to me with video games, sports, and other interests. It seems cyclical though, because an old interest will often come back eventually.
Recently prepped Ogre Deluxe Edition for play. It's unbelievably lavish, and will probably never justify the asking price for anyone except a collector. On the other hand, it's got a ton of content inside the box and could provide many hours of enjoyment if it's "your kind of game".
Still loving Catacombs, which was received from KickStarter last Fall, and am looking forward to the next game in that series coming to KickStarter next month. (That said, I don't really see any reason for normal people to own both. There is more than enough replay value with just one box.)
The other game I've played lately that really blew my mind is KeyFlower. Love the tightt and aggressive auctions, with worker placement and tile-based aspects mixed in for good measure.

LOL that question is pretty good.mjmjr25 wrote:I'm in the hate Apples camp - so i'm already intrigued.

I bought it along with the GREEN expansion. It sounds like all expansions are good except red, which is NSFK.
Re: Board Games: The Thread (Come say hi!)
Cool! Hope you enjoy it. We have the green one and the kids love it.
A house rule you may want to implement once you get a handle on it, is to force the winner of the fight discard 1 attribute and draw a new one randomly from the deck to use in the next fight. We think that adds a fun bit of randomness.

Re: Board Games: The Thread (Come say hi!)
Very similar story here. I moved from Atlanta to where I had a RPG or boardgame group on Mondays, a Boardgame group Wednesday, and the occasional pickup on Saturday and Sunday. To middle of no where, where 90% of my gaming is done with my wife, or a very small group of people who are open to playing something that is not Magic or biyearly games of SolarQuest. I have friends who play digital boardgames - Ack and Noise can usually be wrestled into a game of Talisman (Steam), Witcher Adventure game (GOG), or something similar. Aswell as a couple from way back in the day over Vassal, well when they can play. But a once a week group will probably not happen for me again anytime soon. I have to get my fill of heavy games at our fandom conventions.ejamer wrote:Moved from an urban location to a rural one, and had kids. I am actually interested in a second copy due to how well it goes over at conventions. I kickstarted it, and even went through and marked the edges of the main 3d pieces we use - Mainly a Mk3 and Mk5 and a couple towers and CPs. It is a beast and a pain to lug around, but when it is on the table it is hard not to have you eyes drawn to it. Playing a six map GEV game with multiple people controlling ogres, combined forces, or just a couple super heavies, it is awesome.ejamer wrote:Recently prepped Ogre Deluxe Edition for play. Talisman is awesome.
I need to pick up the Witcher Adventure Game while it's still on sale at GOG...

Re: Board Games: The Thread (Come say hi!)
because I'm thinking about these Marvel movies, I've been thinking about the Marvel stuff I was into as a kid. I was heavy into that stuff in elementary school and junior high - enough so that I even subjected to myself to that Captain America movie
Anyway, it reminded me of the Marvel Super Heroes game that TSR made. OMG I loved that game. And unlike D&D, I was able to actually convince a lot of my friends to play the Marvel one with me fairly often. Was anyone else into that game? I should try to find some of the books for nostalgia's sake.
Semi-related: was there ever a good Marvel video game RPG - preferably not an action RPG. In my head, a Marvel universe Infinity Engine game would be awesome.

Re: Board Games: The Thread (Come say hi!)
Have recently played my first few games of Mysterium. It's kinda like Dixit with a plot. One player is a ghost trying to lead the others to discover his killer via picture matching. It's more involved than that (and we're still playing easy mode) but definitely fun
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread

Brad - for board games; there is Marvel Heroscape - it is VERY VERY light Warhammer.
-----------------------------------------------------
Superfight is ok - you all need to be into it for it to be fun; it's definitely a player driven game (more than the game mechanics). There are so many variants - you're best to make your own rules. I watched 2 YT plays from reputable reviewers, then the official video on the website, then the rules in the rulebook - and all were different. I suppose that's ok.
