GBC Pokemon Link-Up Q's

Post by Toadstool_mafia »

OK so I have Pokemon Crystal and Pokemon Silver, and if you didn't already know are both GBC games. I have three GBA's, an SP, and a GBC. Along with this I have two link-up cables. Now what I want to know is if with what I have I can link-up and battle and/or trade between games. In the past I have tried and it recognized the connection but always ended up in failure. Is this because my Pokemon games can only be connected when they are both on GBC's? Is there a certain procedure that has to be carried out in order to make link-up possible ( Such as turing one on before the other and so forth )? Is there some other thing that I'm missing? If you know an answer to any of my questions please post a response.

I have already completed what is necessary to be able to link-up on both games.

So the last time I ever was involved in a link trade for Pokemon it was back in the original generation. As far as I know you should be fine if both are on the Gameboy Color. There might be some weirdness if you have one of them on the GBA. Other than that, you should just be able to follow the in-game instructions.

I dont know if this will help any but I specifically remember me and my friend starting at the exact same time (once one of us said go) and furiously button mashing all the way until the pokemon could be seen traveling through the cables :D Ahhhh the good ol' days....

The connections on the link cables may be dirty. That happened to me and I ended up fighting a shiny butterfree and a pidgey with water moves.

awesome!
one time I was fooling around with my own gameshark codes and turned my Haunter into some grass type pokemon, the one that evolves from Chikorita. only it still had the ghost type moves but it was turned into a grass type. abominations ftw.
