Hai.

Furthermore, I discovered today, you can actually apparently force individual titles to boot in certain regions. I'm still fairly new to this, but the 3dshacks Reddit and the various github wiki's are very informative with a bit of digging.

Coolio. Is this likely to be patched and either removed or brick my system in the future? My "main" 3DS is my New 3DS XL, but I also have my release-day original 3DS if it's likely that future updates will cause issues.

As I understand it, a9lh runs milliseconds after the system boots and will let you recover from any brick you may accidentally encounter, once you have it set up. This also means it's extremely unlikely to be able to be patched away.

Worth noting however - the latest firmware that came out a week or so ago, 11.0, has temporarily made your 3ds unhackable until they find a way to circumvent that (and they're working on it) so if you've updated this may be a moot point (unless maybe if you're willing to hardmod - which actually looks significantly easier than on any other system I've looked at)

Unfortunately, I am not a clever lad when it comes to hardware modifications, so I'd probably end up either destroying the 3DS or accidentally creating a small thermonuclear device. I can never be sure what will happen when I try to do things I'm not smart enough for.

Been reading up on upcoming wii u titles and found out that Mighty No 9 has a supposedly set in stone release date for next month and that sometime this year Axiom Verge will be coming to the wii u, awesome. Also I'm kind of interested in Tokyo Mirage Sessions and the new Paper Mario.

And I'm a little upset with the fact the this new Zelda is gonna be on the wii u and nx. Zelda is my favorite nintendo franchise and this is my first nintendo console since the 64 and I'm not even getting an exclusive Zelda.

KalessinDB wrote:I would encourage you to read the guide again, it's extremely in-depth and basically fool proof. As long as you follow it step by step (and it's marked a few places where there might be a problem - I ran into one of them but cleared it up easily enough), there's next to no chance of you bricking it.

I mean, if you truly don't feel comfortable, you do you... but the guide (while it seems intimidating at first) really comes down to "Put this on your SD card. Run stuff. Pull this off of your SD card" over and over about 6 times. It's long for sure (I see comments on the reddit thread saying between 6 and 12 hours for most people, I'd say it took me around 7, but the majority of it was just sitting around waiting for backups or files to copy, I was listening to music and playing WoW while I did it) but it's not particularly complicated.

Thanks for taking the time to give some more info. Took a look and this guide seems far more straightforward than anything I've seen before. Just ordered a 32 gig SD and I'll give it a go when it aarrives much appreciated.

 If it's actually a full brick, I am very sorry for encouraging you to do it, but I had no problems with mine and there's many many reports of people going through just fine.

Did you follow all the steps? Where did you get hung up? There's multiple points in there where there's backups made to be able to recover from bricks, the phrasing that's on there is "If you follow all steps a brick is basically impossible unless you circumvent all protections" -- basically isn't completely, but man... Plailect is also active both on the reddit and on their discord server, and appears to be great at answering questions and fixing semi-bricks and the like.

But again, if it turns out to be a full brick that requires a hardware mod, I do apologize for encouraging you...

Edit: I believe if you got a soft brick at the 9.2 downgrade, worst case scenario you can reboot into safe mode and upgrade it to 11.0... but I'd double and triple check the trouble shooting guide on the wiki first.

Yeah it reads like it should only be soft brick but it will not go into recovery. I followed all the steps as far as I can tell although I've obviously done something wrong.

No worries though It hasn't been used in over a year so its no great loss although obviously annoying.

so Halo 5's "Forge Mode" is coming to PC. Is that just the multiplayer or something?

No, I believe that is the utility to make multiplayer maps. You can now build them on PC using mouse and keyboard, which I imagine if you're into that scene would be quite welcome. You can then "test your maps" on PC, which isn't clear what that means exactly, but I'm guessing to actually play the maps you need to do it on XB1.
