having some sega issues.

Post by puke_face »

alright, remember when i posted the topic about how i was stoked about how i found 2 sega genesis ( both model 1, and the model 2 with the cd attached) sitting in my grandparents garage? Well turns out that i can't seem to get either of them running. The model 1, I can't find the ac adaptor, or the video output cable...

and can't figure out where to get either.

as for the model 2 with the sega cd attachment... controller port 1 doesn't work.

What should i do? Can anyone here help me on where to go to find the output cables for the model 1, and who to talk to or who to send the model 2 to to get itfixed? should i just get a different model 2? Or will the model 1 hook up to the model 2 sega cd, and all i need to do is get the 32 bit adapter?!

PLEASE HELP!

If need be, you can use and old RF switch with the model one. The generic one you find online or in a retro store, the old nintento one, basically any older one you can find (Pre-Genesis 2)

I'd look for another model two if I was you. They come pretty cheap and are relativity easy to find, just maybe check around thrift stores or a local gaming shop if they carry retro stuff.

i maybe a bit confused here, but are you talking about the larger black port, with with the 8 pin connector that goes from the back of the sega to the part that plugs into the tv? thats what i'm trying to find.

You can mod the model one to have composite jacks right on the back(or svideo if you want to put in the extra effort). I did this on mine and it's pretty easy to do. For the power cord you could try one of those ac adapters with universal adapters on them, i don't know if that's entirely safe for the system though, maybe someone else here knows more about that.

No, the larger AV port is harder to find the cable for. Look on Ebay or ask around and you might find one. I was suggesting just using an RF switch because I thought you were just trying to test to see if the system was working
