Unless your CRT is in a cabinet, then you could build something with a sheet of plywood, cabinet pulls and a vesa mount.

The top of my TV stand is flat, like a table, so it's not like a cabinet type entertainment center.

I was thinking that I could probably build the whole thing out of wood. I wouldn't even have to get a VESA mount, I could make my own as long as I get the right screws. I could mount 2x4's to the top of the TV stand, and possibly even the wall behind it so I wouldn't have to ever worry about it tipping or adding extra support. It wouldn't look pretty, but if it's wood, I could at least stain it to closely match the TV stand as possible. It wouldn't look horrible, but it wouldn't be elegant.

The only thing I would have to figure out is how to do the track system for it. Specifically, how to do it it so it locks in the top and bottom position. What do you mean by "cabinet pulls"?

I'm seriously considering doing this. I'd have to figure out a way to pipe the audio through the receiver. Maybe I can just do that on the CD input with a switch box, no big deal. It would be one bastard of a setup, that's for sure! It wouldn't be easy to change things around after the initial set up.

So Makeruna! Makendou Z is an RPG sequel to Kendo Rage... TIL.

Just make sure you have it cross and back braced enough, youll be fine.

I misspoke with cabinet pulls (thats a fancy word for knobs). I meant sliders. A cabinet slider, or track, with two positions is what you need. This will be a fairly difficult item to find. How those chalk and markerboards work is with a counterweight and a pully system:

Ill keep looking for an easier solution for you.

Grab some scratch paper and map it out. I do it for every wiring job I do.

My instinctual thought was to make it sort of like a gun rack with dowels. The TV mount would have dowels sticking out on the left and right side (sort of like how people use to carry heavy chests in the old days). Then there'd be a sort of gun rack that you would hang the TV on. Short dowels at, say, 45 degrees upward angle. The TV would never slip off. It would be cake to build. However, I don't think I would want to be lifting the TV all the time to change positions. Not that the TV is heavy, it would just be annoying. Something sliding would be nice, but the "gun rack" idea isn't a bad back up plan.

y'know, we got a new Wolfenstein game that was really good. And the new Doom looks really good. But I was actually thinking today that I'd really love to see a new single player Quake game.

I keep hearing about that Wolfenstein game and I keep thinking I missed out on something there. I hope to grab it out in the wild for cheap. Doom is on the way tomorrow. Too bad the multiplayer sucks, but the campaign is going to be a lot of fun I think.

Not exactly what you want, but its frigging cool.

The issue I am running into is that most mounts like this have a center bar for stabilization.

Would you want it in the Quake continuity or the Quake 2 continuity (which has Quake 4 as the sequel)?

either/or, honestly. I mean, I actually liked Q4 a lot. But... I do think it would be more interesting to see a Q1 style game with modern visuals.
