Atleast go for Hugo 3 Jungle of Doom:

All three Hugos are on GOG:

But Hugo 2 is terrible, stupid bee hedgemaze puzzle.

What a blast from the past! I remember playing those games as a kid, having so much fun typing curses to Hugo and watching his response haha.

Has anyone legitimately beaten those games without a faq? I could always make it about halfway then inevitably would get stuck. In all 3 of them. Also wasn't there a 4th as well?

I beat Hugo 2 and 3 without a guide a long time ago (took me forever to figure out the stupid elephant). I never beat Hugo 1 or Hugo's Nitemare 3D. Though I should find a copy of Nitemare, since it looks like a bad Doom clone but was written from scratch. What is amazing is that the games were made by a very small company, Gray Design Associates, which was mostly David Gray:

Now he makes Jigsaw puzzle software and is a some sort of programmer by trade.

The only thing that makes me want to stop collecting is the fact that I am getting running out of shelf space. I have to be picky about what I add to my collection as I don't want bins or games in a closet. Other than that I still love playing and collecting for all the systems you see below.

p.s. I really liked what Noise said about games just being games, not grouping them into new or retro. Just this week I've gone from Winning Post on the Saturn to Halo 5 on XboxOne to Mega Man Legacy Collection of PS4 to Darkwing Duck on the NES. The point is to play what you like and just have fun with it, not to be an elitist or a hoarder for the sake of hoarding!

Go find a new hobby then! I hear that stamp and coin collectors don't have enough participating in their hobby. Lol

Epic shelves, 8-bit.

I have the same (lack of) shelf space issue. My game room has a thick baseboard running throughout and the light fixtures are on the walls instead of ceiling, so big heavy proper bookshelves are a no-go. Sometime this month I'm going to create some sort of wall-mounted system to house everything.

I've actually considered shelf space when purchasing a game. "Well, I don't have room for this PlayStation game but there's an empty slot in my Nintendo 64 section!"

Except for the fact that this is supposed to be a retro gaming site about livin' dat retro gamin' lifestyle.

Because see, if I wanted to talk about the latest PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC releases, there's no shortage of forums concerning modern gaming. On the other hand, Racketboy and Digital Press are the last bastions for retro gaming discussion (far as I can tell). And Digital Press has been kinda crap for a good many years now sadly.

So on that note, I come here explicitly to read about people playing retro games, and to discuss related retro gaming archeology. But more often it seems members here just wanna talk about playing the latest new releases for the latest new hardware. Which is totally OKAY, but it does seem a bit disingenuous given the original intent of the site.

isn't limiting our talk to retro games sort of like going to a buffet and only eating the old food and ignoring the fresh food?

Old games are still fresh if you bother to play them.

Unlimited shelf life, unlike some modern online-only games.
