Baten Kaitos is starting to get reaally hard. The first boss of the second disc gets SO many attacks, and I was sooooo close to having beat him with no one dying, but then I got greedy and tried to land a final blow instead of healing, and he killed someone, so now that person is like 20k XP behind everyone else :/

Still very fun though. It's both a blessing and a curse to get larger deck and hand sizes, because you might not even have enough cards to make a deck that really makes sense. That's the problem I keep running into at the max deck size at least.

In terms of story, I really enjoyed the "Climb in the tank to fall safely from a plane" trope, just so far as funny moments I remember Xp.

Bravely Second is getting beaten tonight. I really mean it this time! My friends can go fuck themselves, they're not coming over; my beautiful NeoGeo cab will just have to be patient; my Kindle will go unread for at least a few hours; Uncharted 4 will wait until tomorrow. I'm finally beating that damn RPG.

My biggest complaint with Bravely Second was a distinct lack of "Unacceptable!"

There are some absolutely brutal battles in that game. There's a certain battle against Giacomo that you may or may not have run into already that takes forever to finish.

I have a save file for Baten Kaitos that's just been sitting at the Imperial Fortress since about 2006. I ran into some boss that I couldn't manage to get past, possibly because of mismanaged decks, and have abandoned it since. It looks like it's not too terribly far off from the end of the game. I wonder if I might be able to actually salvage it.

It was the battle against Giacamo (who's name pronunciation is awful and kills his character's impact imo "Jack-a-Mo") Ayame and Folon on the Goldoba. Giacamo's two attacks per round is OP as heeeell. That battle literally took me like 45 minutes, although it could just be my fault because I happened to be using just about the worst party I could've to abuse their weaknesses to light attacks, just because those guys were the farthest behind in XP.

Yep, that's the one. I think it took me closer to 1.5 hours. I must have been really underleveled. How I survived that long, I don't know. Maybe it just felt like that long. Either way, that battle is brutal.

The battle after that is pretty tough as well, although it doesn't take as long. It just sucks that they just start throwing mobs with the "death" ability on one of his three special moves on you from nowhere :/

I do really like how they
pull a Chrono Trigger and take the main character out of the action for a while and the rest of the party has to get him back, although in Chrono's case he's disnitigrated, and in Kalas' he turns/is revlealed to be super evil. I've really loved a lot of what the game has done with story so far actually. Like how everyone never quite trusts each other, and their reasons for sticking around with each other are fairly well explained narratively other than just a given because it's a party-based RPG.
