Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Well on hour 7 now of my update download for The Elder Scrolls Online Tameriel Unlimted (PS4). Seems like nearly every game I install on my PS4 requires half a day to fully update these 20+ gig downloads are killing me.

More fascinating stuff here.

The designer of Astyanax (NES) also worked on Legendary Axe (TG-16). That makes so much SENSE now that you think about it.

PULL ME AWAY FROM /V/'s RECOMMENDED GAMES WIKI already, not only am I acquiring new game knowledge at an accelerated pace, I'm getting all sorts of crazy ideas for new games to buy/try. Heck, even RPGs. As if my backlog is long enough already.....

You think I'm a dork now? I don't even have the helmet yet! When the Megaman one shipped, I spent about an hour running around the house with the helmet on and a beer in hand shouting 'pew pew pew' at the cats.

The Protoman hat will require a kazoo so that I can play Blues' theme.

Sometimes I go to crazy lengths to play esoteric games. A recent example:

So two of my all time favorite games on Wii were the Endless Ocean entries. Well those two games were made by Arika, and might as well have been called Everblue 3 and Everblue 4. I say that because, before the Endless Ocean games were developed, Arika had already been developing scuba diving adventure games on PS2, indeed called Everblue and Everblue 2. Everblue 2 even got a domestic USA release! But not Everblue.

Everblue 1 did get an English release in PAL land. So, the first thing I did was import a copy of it. Okay, great, now I have a 50hz PAL PS2 game that's not gonna run on my USA PS2 nor be compatible with my NTSC CRT TV. So I make an ISO of Everblue's CD. I use a special software tool to patch the ISO's video header to support the NTSC refresh rate, with a Y offset of -48 to compensate for screen re-centering. But now I'm stuck with a CD image that's not compatible with Free McBoot. So I had to convert the CD image into a DVD image, not a simple task, considering I had to completely reconstruct the file layouts and sector mapping, etc. But, I did it, and the CD ISO became a DVD ISO. Next, I had to patch the DVD ISO to support Free McBoot. And lastly burn the image to a DVD.

The moment of truth came, and I put the once PAL-only-CD, now converted to NTSC-DVD-selfbooting disc, into my PS2. And I booted 'er up. Holy shit balls Everblue booted up perfectly the first try! Crystal clear picture and ready to rock. Twas a good night in ye olde dork cave. :o Everblue and Everblue 2 oughta be perfect summer time games and I'm diving in soon.

I am with you on that man! Today a game that I have been looking forward for the past 2 years is coming out and that is Uncharted 4. The game is getting amazing reviews (which I pretty much expected) and seems to be a game to buy day one. But, the game requires you to download a 5+ gig download to access the multiplayer part of the game. That's right folks! The game you have just bought brand new is a incomplete game that ships with out the multiplayer part of the game.

Now, do I care about the multiplayer part of the game? No! But that does not mean that the game should ship with it not on the disc at least the base multiplayer. All the games from this generation are either broken on release and need a update to fix or incomplete and need a update to have the full experience. Some will argue that games are larger and more expensive to make now. I do not disagree with that, but I for one could wait for the game to be completely finished and shipped whole at least for paying $60 for a brand new game.

Games from this generation will not be playable or even hold any significant value at all with how games are shipped out and made now. We do not own a standalone release that is complete. But, instead broken, buggy or incomplete games. This does not stop me from buying games but not at $60. I think Uncharted 4 might get redboxed over the weekend to see the final conclusion to the story of Drake but I might pick it up on sale for like 10 or 20.

This is just my 2 cents on the whole thing.

Most of the Wii U games I've bought haven't had the issue of massive patches on launch day (at least not that I remember). With PS4 and Xbone, though, you're right; it's complete bullshit.

I thought it was just cribbing from Legendary Axe, but now it all becomes clear. It was, just in a much more direct manner! Very cool factoid. (Especially since I just beat Astyanax recently!)
