Just got done watching Capt. America Civil War.
I like it. Quite grounded given the plot and characters.
What was the last movie you've seen?

Looking forward to that one. Probably Saturday or Sunday, unfortunately I'm working a double shift today so no time to do anything other than sleep, work, and grab takeout on the way in.CD AGES wrote:Just got done watching Capt. America Civil War.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed

We went to see Green Room tonight. I thought it was pretty great. I'm a fan of Blue Ruin as well, so this was an easy choice. It was brutal. Patrick Stewart was great, the rest of the cast was really good as well.
Some really interesting choices were made in this movie. It's less predictable than your usual hack and slash movie. I recommend a viewing without reading a synopsis or review beforehand. We watched it blind and it was really enjoyable, then we got home and my oldest son had pulled out a magazine with a "review" that gave damn near the whole movie away.
Anyway, it is vicious. Almost on par with something like "Inside" or "Frontiers" but more restrained and character driven. A nice departure from the usual.

Nice. I also really like Blue Ruin, and I am excited about The Green Room. (I am also a fan of John Carpenter's Assault on Precinct 13; so, I guess that I am doubly excited...).jp1 wrote:We went to see Green Room tonight. I thought it was pretty great. Re: What was the last movie you've seen?

now that I've subject my wife to all Alien + Predator movies, it's time to move on to the mockbusters and unofficial sequels.
Alien Origin is from the infamous Asylum. And this one is a mockbuster made to capitalize on the release of Prometheus. Even you haters (I loved Prometheus) would agree that this is far worse, haha. So here's the scoop: Alien Origin is a found footage movie about a special forces team in Belize who are investigating two lost archeologists. And there's aliens. It feels sort of like a found footage Predator movie. The first half is much better than the second. The actors aren't actually bad. And some of the locations are pretty cool. Though it switches from jungle to forest on the fly. The first half has a sort of Blair Witch tension building, but the second half is mostly soldiers shooting guns into darkness and you don't see any aliens or even understand what's happening. It's only the last like 10 seconds that even tie it in to Prometheus. I've seen far better movies, and far worse. I think it's hilarious that it was released on Blu-ray though. I mean... why?

A cool documentary about the early days of TMNT. Focuses mostly on the Mirage comics, the 1987 cartoon, merchandising and the first movie. But was a great watch. I'd like to see an expanded second one that goes beyond.

Oculus was somewhat creepy, but had some great execution. Redheads help. I enjoyed it.

Yeah, I checked. Some of it isn't on sale, but I may finally track down a copy of Ginger Snaps anyway.
Also, the theme for my October marathon this year is probably going to be monsters of some kind. At least, that is what my girlfriend has been pushing for. Werewolves count, right?
