I think some of the early 3D games may have been cool back in the day, but now they look like puke smeared on my TV screen. Some of my early PS1 and 3DO games come to mind. I played this game PO'ED not to long ago after having great memories with it when I was younger. Its not so fun anymore. Father Time hasn't been kind to most FPSs. Lots of them have aged badly. I guess it depends on the genre. Games genres like sports, racing and shooters tend to age badly as their yearly updates improve the title greatly.

For me it is Goldeneye on 64. Loved it back in the day, infact I played it nonstop for the better part of 2 years. Especially multiplayer marathons with my friends. Going back and playing it about a year ago it saddened me to realize it didn't age well at all, for me. At least the multiplayer didn't. I haven't relived the single player yet.

Yeah this has happened to me. Awhile back I bought a DC to relive some of the good times I had between its launch and death and I did enjoy it quite a bit I just didn't to the extent I thought I would or to the extent I recall enjoying it back then

I gotta say, I agree with most the folks here in saying that most of my old school collection is as good now as it was decades ago.

I have some stinkers, but they're usually "so-bad-its-good" type stuff like Revolution X and Battle Monsters; stuff you can roll out with like-minded friends and have a good time laughing at how terrible the game is.

I don't have any truly mediocre titles, as far as I can tell. Everything is either good enough to pop in from time to time, or so bad that you could make it into a drinking game. In fact, the most useless game I have in my collection is Strider for NES, and that's only because I now have Strider for the Genesis.

For me there is only one game that comes to mind and thats cool spot for the sega genesis. i used to think it was the coolest (even though i bearly even played it back then) then recently i dug out some of my games and went through them and found the game to be less desirable than i rember.

Golden Eye and South park for 64 are the FPS i cant stand playing anymore. the frame rate is garbage and on 4 player slow down basically kills the fun. but i used to love both games when i was younger. another one would be GEX 2, used to think it was the shit, now i think it IS shit.

Huh? I don't see how you can lump Goldeneye and South Park 64 in the same sentence? One game was and still is fantastic the other is a painful piece of shit that I feel ashamed for playing back in the day. I rented South Park 64 and still felt ripped off, it was that bad. Goldeneye is still a great game and there is still tonnes of playability in it.

At least Goldeneye was better than the licence it was based on.

As much as I love Streets of Rage and Yuzo Koshiro's music the games just aren't what I remember. Mostly its the genre and the fact they really weren't all that great. I just loved SOR 2 because it was the first home video game I ever owned that was MINE. Oh and the music shaped my entire life :)

For me, it's the original Dragon Warrior/Quest and the first Final Fantasy on NES. In fact, even the first Zelda isn't something I'd choose to play.

In spite of my fanboy love for a handful of SNES RPGs, I can't think of a single NES RPG that I have played recently and enjoyed.
