This is a great list of games, but "classics" (cult or otherwise) are far and few between. That's fine, but it certainly isn't in the spirit of the way that this challenge was envisioned. Which, again, is fine.

@dsheinem
I understand what you're saying. And you're not wrong.
Here's the deal though; many of the "classics" I haven't already played, I haven't played for a simple reason. They don't interest me, hence I never played them when they were fresh to begin with. So in order for me to participate in a retro-themed summer gaming marathon, I have to pick out old games that I actually find appealing. That means most of my picks are never going to be "classics" in the critically recognized sense. But I'll beat and review some lesser known oldies. Off the beaten path stuff, most of which 90% of folks on the forum wouldn't have known about otherwise. There's at least some merit to my shenanigans.

Re: Summer Games Challenge 2016
I think next year I'm going to solely play 2nd gen games for this challenge. Meant to do it this year - and forgot.
I realized last night that I'm very close to the end of the first "episode" of Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst. Gonna finish that up (should take a few days) and then get balls-deep into the Summer Challenge.

Congrats!
I'm champing at the bit to get started on DQII, and since you will probably beat it much faster than me, I may go ahead and fire it up!

if you keep up this pace, you should be able to complete your Summer Gaming list before Summer starts!
