I almost think that this mod-support for Steam Genesis games deserves its own thread. I mean think about it: Somari is something you can officially get on Steam now. Somari.
The fact that Sega has gone ahead and legitimized ROMhacks via Steam Workshop is really pretty forward thinking to me. In contrast, Nintendo keeps taking down peoples' Mario Maker levels because they-don't-know-why.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Well, at least it was the NES version. The SNES version might be even worse. Seriously, I had a friend that "gave" it to me, but they really should have paid me to take it.ExedExes wrote:At least you weren't the winner of the NP contest for Total Recall, where the winner wasn't able to meet Arnold Schwarzenegger on the set of the film as advertised; the actual trip was delayed until after filming and they only had time for a quick handshake. But hey, they got a copy of the NES game. That great, awesome... yeah.Sarge wrote:Man, I loved Robocop in the arcade. It also makes me remember that cool giveaway they did in Nintendo Power where the winner got a car from the movie, and the arcade machine.
EDIT: Oh, wait, that was two separate contests. The arcade machine was second prize in one where the winner got to go to the set of Robocop 2.

I'm thinking about using my dad's amplifier to connect speakers to my PC and monitor but I still haven't found a place to put it that doesn't lead to four different boxes being stacked one on top of the other. Ideally, I would get a whole new table but yeah, things are rough

Yeah, that's pretty amazing. I haven't bought many of the Genesis/MD games on Steam because I own the cartridges of most of the ones I would want to play. But this development means I will probably get more of the Steam versions at some point...noiseredux wrote:I almost think that this mod-support for Steam Genesis games deserves its own thread. Beware - if you Google Dark Cavern (which is the Atari 2600 variant of Night Stalker) you get TONS AND TONS OF PORN.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
So if I beat the original Mega Man using save states only between levels does it still count? How about if I spam the select button to beat the first boss in Dr. Wily's stage? Are cheats/workarounds like that permissible if they were published in Nintendo Power?
I understand it's up to me to decide ultimately just want to hear opinions. I've never had a problem with save states personally if it's apparent you're otherwise just going to play and beat the same sections over and over and literally waste your time doing something you've already proven you can do.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread

That's hilarious - and probably true. I always liked the 2600 game but never got a chance to play Night Stalker until I gave my uncle an Intellivision Flashback for his birthday last May.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Beware - if you Google Dark Cavern (which is the Atari 2600 variant of Night Stalker) you get TONS AND TONS OF PORN.
It was so much better! The Atari fanboy in me was very jealous.
The Atari got quite a few ports of Intellivison games but the one I always wanted was Space Hawk. As far as I know there is no port on the Atari of that game.
