Sometimes retro games are best left as a fun memory
Sometimes retro games are best left as a fun memory
Anyone else ever try to go back to a retro game you loved playing years ago and just doesn't seem to have that magic anymore? This does not apply for all games but this often seems to be the case. I can't seem to enjoy a old clasic as much as i did when i first played it many moons ago.

You know, I actually can't think of any. Every game that I have managed to play recently that I used to play back in the day, I still enjoy.

This really hasn't happened to me, I like going back to old games like Mario 64 or Kirby's Dream Land. Though once I was trying out a bunch of SNES games and most of them were terrible and then I put Tom and Jerry in and I thought it was really fun, then I played it again a different time and it was mediocre.

This pretty much never happens. I guess I had good taste right from birth.

Every Atari 2600 game I ever played as I kid I can't stand now (with the exception of Chopper Command, I still like that one ok).
Other than that, T&C Surf Designs Wood and Water Rage is much less fun that I remember, but I still find it playable.

Systems: Atari 2600, Atari Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Genesis 3, Genesis 2, 32X, Sega CD (model 2), Saturn (model 1), Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox (Modded), Xbox 360, GameBoy, GBA SP, Game Gear, PSP... always adding more

Atari sucked anyway.

Rolo to the rescue. I rented that a couple times back in the day and used the code that unlocks the whole map. I remembered having fun exploring all these different levels.
And then I played it recently and it's like controlling an elephant on ice. 99% of the difficulty comes from the fact that rolo slides all over the place.

For me it's Karnov for the NES. I loved it back in the day but now... I'm not diggin it.

The opposite often happens. I came to like a lot of games I didn't enjoy as a kid.

yeah, i've had that experience. i can't figure out why i liked "amagon" and "wai wai world" as a kid, i must have suffered from head trauma.
