So there's a game called Legend of Heroes that's not the Falcom game, huh.

Well done on scoring Star Control 2 on 3DO. That's the first game I ordered when I got my 3DO.

So fun story - the day I got all the 3DO stuff I decided to test it once I'd got home.Sarge wrote:Well done on scoring Star Control 2 on 3DO. That's the first game I ordered when I got my 3DO.
I had a fun round of Samurai Showdown, and then I put in the Star Control disc to test...
...And my 3DO died entirely. As in, won't turn on at all dead. Right after I got a bunch of new stuff for it - for the first time ever really.
Guess what my first May purchase is

Re: Games Acquired 2016
It's also how I discovered that the 3DO seems to have some sort of disc locking mechanism when the game is playing too. I could get the disc drawer to open again.
I had to operate to rescue my new Star Control disc
I'm actually a bit sad my ol' 3DO copped it. One day I'll learn how to fix the bugger.
The 3DO was actually one of my earliest consoles, believe it or not!

Maybe it just blew a fuse or something. I've fixed a Sega CD and an SNES by replacing them. Of course, the power supply may have just died, too.
Re: Games Acquired 2016
I think I've been jinxed! I booted my 3DO, and the audio is almost non-existent. Furthermore, in a test to see if it was the cable, I was nonplussed to discover my Saturn won't spin up. Doh!

Oh dear!Sarge wrote:I think I've been jinxed! I booted my 3DO, and the audio is almost non-existent. Furthermore, in a test to see if it was the cable, I was nonplussed to discover my Saturn won't spin up. Doh!
The 3DO Audio issue is fairly common. Someone else on this forum posted a fix they did to make it work again.
Mine actually did the same a while before it died. I suspect both issues are just caused by faulty capacitors which is why I'm keeping my 3DO until I learn to solder so I can fix it!
Not sure about the Saturn issue though, sorry.
