That's after the Genesis and TG16 were released in the US. Imagine growing up in a house with just Atari. Your friends would be playing Altered Beast and Keith Courage but you'd be rocking some Sentinel.
I told my story here many times, I didn't get an NES until Christmas 1989 so I was rocking the 7800 and playing Xenophobe, released IN 1989! You could still get 2600 games at Toys R Us, even in the age of these new systems! Perhaps that is why I am still firmly rooted in the second generation and discussing those games.

has anyone played Duelyst?

It is a 1v1 game that I've read compared to mixing the battle system of tactical RPG's like Final Fantasy Tactics or Fire Emblem with the collecting aspect of something like Hearthstone. Sounds pretty interesting and is free.

I've realized recently, that sometimes I dismiss games simply because I'm not in the right mood for them, rather than because the games themselves are actually bad.

It apparently plays alot like Summoner Wars, which is a great boardgame with a decent smartphone version - though there are multiple smartphone games named Summoner Wars. Or like Arena of the Planeswalker meets Hearthstone. If they still have the sandbox mode I will probably load it up for when we go traveling. Seems like a perfect hotseat multiplayer game for my wife and I - deckbuilding, strategy, and sub 30 minutes games.

That sounds like me a lot.

I know that they're dated games by today's standards, but that sort of thing doesn't really matter to me (obviously, I'm on a retro forum!). I really tried to get into Half Life recently, but just couldn't. A few months ago, I tried to get into Star Wars Republic Commando and couldn't. They both seem like great games, but I just wasn't in the mood.

Star Fox Zero seems pretty awesome. I started playing it, but I have no drive for it right now. Likewise, I picked up Twilight Princess HD. I would have been super pumped to play it a couple of years ago after I finished Wind Waker HD, but I just not in the mood for a Zelda game right now.

This sort of thing keeps my backlog large. I have to be in the mood to play a game, and it seems like I'm fussy.

If it can run it. Specs for it are pretty intense for what it is.

that's a good point. The game looks simple enough that I really didn't give it a thought.

I think one of my game discs is screwed. I can't see anything wrong with it, no scratches, it's clean. But, it freezes in the same place every time I play. I was scared it was the system, but nothing else is having issues.
