If anything I found it easier to sneak around because you had more tools for figuring out when enemies were aware of you and cones of sight. That said, I always put my first Praxis Points into said tools; it could be that DX is easier to stealth from the get-go but HR is easier if you focus on it.
And the takedowns were so cheap and easy to pull off.

And it was funny how there was literally no point for the lethal takedowns... I think they were maybe a second or two faster, but they were louder and granted less exp.

I also thought stealth was easier in HR, namely because of the third person perspective when going into cover and such. Which I could do without honestly because it kind of makes the experience disorienting with both perspectives... but oh well. This franchise is a hybrid of genres and that's what I like about it.

I think I unbound the cover button when I first got the game.

I suspect this is the case.

Took down my first boss in HR:DC last night. At that point I was glad I had the DC version. The boss was like a freaking T-800, taking ridiculous amounts of damage and extremely lethal if you got anywhere near it. I mean a straight up Typhoon blast did nothing to this guy. Without the added environmental stuff to escape into that the DC version supplies, I might have rage quit at that point. I'd heard the boss fights were disingenuous to the core experience, and I now know folks weren't kidding. I'm still enjoying the game all the same.

Yeah, in the original release they were far worse. Each one had a closed arena and your only option was to pump enough lead into them to kill them. So if you had been focusing entirely on stealth and non-combat you were at a severe disadvantage. Many people took the Typhoon specifically for bosses, as a couple of shots of that would kill the bosses. But in the DC you get things like places you can hack to get turrets to fight the bosses.

Has anyone been playing Bravely Second with the Japanese vocals? It's been interesting to see how they've localized Magnolia. In the original Japanese she tosses in random English, but in the localization she does random French. However, I feel like the random French is far more natural; it's what you would expect from someone who really is being forced to speak in a non-native language, with exclamations and certain common words staying in the original.

It's also fun to see how some of the intentionally memetic lines of the original Japanese have been preserved in spirit in the translation. One of Magnolia's lines she uses a lot in the Japanese is "GOOD GRAVY!" Those lines became appropriate French in the US localization but the "good gravy" instead got pulled into the regular English dialog of other characters. There was definitely some good thought that went into the localization.

I need to use that phrase more often. Good gravy, indeed. ;)

Still playing Ys Ark of Naphistim. Just beat the giant moth boss summoned by Jue on hard difficulty. Now I'm getting closer to completing this game. I'm having so much fun with this game, I love everything about it. Great music, top notch voice acting, great battle system, and also every single NPC gets a voiceover!

I think it's just a crime that it is only a 15 hour game though. I think they really could have made it longer and that is the only gripe I have with this game. I mean they had 40+ hour long RPGs in PS1 Saturn era gaming right? I think even Shining Holy Ark was like a 50+ hour long game. Yeah it's fun to play short RPGS if you are hard pressed for time, but when a game is this good you actually want to play for a LONG time.

I agree Napishtim is a great action-RPG. But there is such a concept as "too much of a good thing". I'd rather an RPG leave me wanting more than just drag on and burn me out.

All the same, if you want a great action-RPG that's fairly meaty, don't skip this:

Ys games are better when kept short.

I agree. No matter how good a game is, I'm usually going to burn out sooner rather than later.
