But did you see a man in a walker outpacing you on the sidewalk next to your car?

The funny thing is, he would have. Easily. I spent ten minutes sitting still behind that bus.

I've found buses to be an overall menace to traffic flow. The worst thing out here is that the multi-occupancy lane is on the far left of the highway, so you'll see a double-length bus merge over three lanes of traffic to get into it during rush hour, then merge three lanes back to get off for its stop. And people out here already have trouble handling cars merging.

Buses are the biggest menace on the roads in the county here too, both the tarc(public bus) and the school buses too. The TARC don't pay all that good of attention at times, and they'll go where they need to and stay on schedule which means picking it up or just parking their ass in a line(at a sign) and waiting until time sets back to schedule. The worst are the school bus drivers, yeah, the big yellow bus with no seat belts and your kids in it. The drivers don't give a fuck, they're awful. You can't go by without some kind of an accident by the week or two here, and the fact that they're so large is the only reason there isn't a death clock going on the kids. They'll run into other cars or road side objects, drive as shitty as someone in their little disposable junker car, whatever. They slam on brakes at times and put on the lights for kids to get in/out with little warning, same thing over a railroad track too.
Making it worse, this county illegally against federal law shuttles kids around the county to drop kids in different neighborhoods to try and be 'fair to the poor kids' basically doing illegal segregated bussing. They're on the road for like upwards of 3 hours (in/out of school each way) each day with all the runs, some so long they just dump kids without supervision at spots in town and if the other bus isn't there yet, they wait...good chance for kidnapping, rape and robbery there, or being mowed down by another car. What's worse is no one in this county has the balls to stand up to it enough to combat the jerks in the council, and since it's a moderately left leaning county, people with a brain get outvoted to keep this crooked garbage in place which in turn jacks up taxes yearly to fund all the added gas, repairs and bus replacements from age or damage in accidents. The problems on the side from that is the better off parents aren't injecting jack into the older poorer schools which is what the scheme is for, and the poorer kids are going to the formerly better schools trashing them and fights/police activity is on the rise as they attack the locals who got lucky enough to stay local. Stupid eh?

Maine: pretty much no traffic but car ownership is mandatory.
