I'm not saying you're wrong.

But the back of the box says you're wrong:

Then we could most any modern game with a leveling system an RPG. That is more of a marketing thing. I have seen those descriptors on other games as well that seems like a stretch to label a game as they did.
Isn't there a pure-strategy WWII game that also had a leveling system on the Sega Saturn? Iron Storm, I think?

You're probably aware of this, but just in case you're not:

Iron Storm is the hex-based strategy game you're thinking of, I just don't know if it has leveling or not. If it does I'd guess it's Military Madness style unit leveling.

Not all of us are blessed with the ability to read moon language, Bone!
Weeb harder.

Also, as far as the "is it an RPG?" discussion goes, the Japanese developers and publishers have always operated under a more generous and liberal application of the term. Simple as that.

That makes sense. When Hobie and I grabbed all of those imports from the big collection we bought, I recall a few having ROG or other type of genre listed that we wouldnt classify as that.

Is there any good roguelikes or text adventure games for phones? I'm just looking for something to waste some time, and that hopefully isn't going to kill my battery too quick.

Do you have an iPhone? A Dark Room is excellent.
