I know there's a hack out there to change the whitelist. I'm also likely going to hack this thing, just to play around on something I'm willing to screw up as opposed to my Vita. It is nice seeing Ys on a large screen. At least some of the best games I have work (Ys, P4 Golden, Muramasa, Tales of Hearts R).

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I thought I would challenge this for funsies and because I had never really sat down and counted them out. I went through my collection notes and this is what I found:MrPopo wrote:PDS is the best RPG on the Saturn. The problem being you can count the number of RPGs (including SRPGs and the like) on the Saturn on your fingers.
1. Albert Odyssey: The Legend of Eldean
2. Blazing Heroes/Mystaria
3. Dark Savior
4. Dragon Force
5. The Legend of Oasis
6. Magic Knight Rayearth
7. Panzer Dragoon Saga
8. Shining Force III
9. Shining the Holy Ark
Any I'm missing? MrPopo is right, as usual, don't tell him, it will go to his head.

Technically, he's wrong, 'cause you've only got eight fingers and two thumbs.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I'm pretty sure that's a square/rectangle argument. All thumbs are fingers, but not all fingers are thumbs.Sarge wrote:Technically, he's wrong, 'cause you've only got eight fingers and two thumbs.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Personally speaking, I had more fun with Shining The Holy Ark than I've had with Panzer Dragoon Saga. Saturn or not, I wouldn't call either AAA JRPGs though.Stark wrote:Any I'm missing? MrPopo is right, as usual, don't tell him, it will go to his head.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
You could also make a case that Shining Force III is three games, which would make the total 12. But still, the fact that you need SRPGs to barely break double digits still hits the essence of my point.

Guess it just depends on who you ask. It's definitely a case where some consider them fingers and some don't. I was just trying to find a way to make MrPopo wrong!
Seriously, though, I do think that's just about all the US releases, so yes, they can be counted on the fingers/thumbs/digits. It's a bigger number if you hit the Japanese releases, but probably not by a ton. It was a system as RPG-starved as the Gamecube, I reckon.

If I'm adding my opinion, my favorite from the list is Dragon Force, but it's SRPG not regular ol' RPG.

It's kind of a beat 'em RPG hybrid, but Guardian Heroes should count.Stark wrote: 1. Albert Odyssey: The Legend of Eldean

You did forget the greatest Saturn RPG of all time though:
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
So technically, you can count the number of "true" RPGs on your thumbs. Those being Albert Odyssey and Shining the Holy Ark. I think PDS is different enough that it sometimes defies classification, and the rest are action-RPGs or SRPGs.
Oh, dang, forgot about that Hydlide game...
