Lolo is fun... but way too long.
Vectorman sucks.

This isn't a joke, you should be playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.noiseredux wrote:So nobody got that "Lords Of Shadow" was a joke in a response to Bone saying not to play PS3 games that you've been meaning to, huh?

I played the demo - which I think is just like the opening of the game? I thought it was awesome. But I've never gotten around to playing more of the game proper. I will though.Stark wrote:This isn't a joke, you should be playing Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.noiseredux wrote:So nobody got that "Lords Of Shadow" was a joke in a response to Bone saying not to play PS3 games that you've been meaning to, huh?

Most of these are great picks. Here are my thoughts on a few.
Castlevania 2 Simons Quest - Not really a "classic" and not really a very good (or fun) game. Go with something else.
Blades Of Steel - A fun game, but there are better sports games on the NES. Go with Baseball Stars, Ice Hockey, Pro Wrestling, RBI Baseball, Super Tecmo Bowl, or Tecmo Bowl.
Wonderboy in Monster World - OK...I guess. I don't have much experience with this series.

My copy came in the mail yesterday. You have to beat it in 30 minutes, right? How bad could it be?BoneSnapDeez wrote:oh dear godprfsnl_gmr wrote:I am going to hold off on it until after I beat Romancia.

I never really liked sensible soccer, always felt floaty and weird.alienjesus wrote:
I dunno what to recommend for most, but if you want one of the most iconic football (and I mean real football, I'm British) games of the 1990s, before FIFA killed the others off, then you really want Sensible Soccer. It's really fun even if like me you don't normally like sports games. The Amiga version should be easy to emulate.
After that the most iconic football game would probably be International Superstar Soccer for the N64 I'd say.
ISS on the 64 was great... but I think I'm going to either go with one of the golf games suggested or throw in a Fire pro Wrestling, although which is to be determined. I don't still watch wrestling but have great memories of the N64 wrestling games and even some of the acclaim and then smackdown games on ps.

Ah I'm interested in hearing more about the US sports management games, the Championship and the Football Manager games have become like religion to some on this side of the pond. Creating EVE like grand narratives of men taking unknown rag tag teams of nobodies to the greatest footballing achievements.noiseredux wrote:I don't know what you've played but Final Fantasy and Ys come to immediate mind for being shorter games.flash1987 wrote: An RPG - Preferably something short. I did start playing Lagrange Point but again I don't think this qualifies as a classic as it never even got a western release.
There are US sports management sim games. I don't really know much about soccer games though. Golf games rule though. You could do Golf/Mario Golf, Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf, PGA Tour, Links, Neo Turf Masters, Tiger Woods...A sports title - I'm European so a lot of the American sports games have little interest to me. Although I have fond memories of NBA Jam on SNES. Otherwise its going to be a soccer or golf game. Tempting to go back and play one of the classic Championship Manager games but it would take my entire life and be of no interest to any of you... I find it odd that there seems to be no US equivalent of Football/Championship Manager series.
But um... let's see, how about California Games? That's kind of a left-field suggestion, I know.
Yeah always loved golf games and California games is another good suggestion. So sports is down to:

Neo Turf Masters or Hot Shots Golf.flash1987 wrote:- undecided golf game/ California games/undecided fire pro wrestling
Any Fire Pro is good, but D (Dreamcast), Six Man (Saturn), and Returns (PS2), are the usual suspects.

Flash, the thing with football management games is that they generally get better with each incarnation so it's hard to pick out a "classic" version. You could go with the original Football Manager for the C64/Spectrum or the first Champ Manager for Amiga. You could go super British and play a cricket or rugby game. Or just ISS 2000 which has an interesting career mode.
I won't be doing a list this year cos last year it was a bust. I hope you all have fun making lists, having Dave insult you, then playing other games anyway.
