I snapped up one more ebay lot, it has Shinobi II in it along with a few other solid games and a couple gambles in it too, but value wise the average is like $6/game but given enough of them are worth over $10 anyway it was good sense to get. A few of them I had in the past, a few would be new, so it'll be fun to experiment sometimes next week when it arrives or actually after since I got to ship mine off for cap replacement+led modding.

Over the weekend I tracked down for $10 all in their little plastic cases Sonic the Hedgehog Chaos, Streets of Rage, Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury Special and they all seem pretty decent to excellent.

I've got another lot of 6 coming in I got 4 days ago, didn't realize at the time the seller was lazy and put a 5 days to ship notice on it which seems odd, but whenever it arrives that'll be nice to have around. I think I'm done picking off stuff for now as I have to arrange to send my system off for the upgrades/re-cap as it is.

Not super strange, in my experience some high-volume sellers have designated shipping days.

I really like the Game Gear Shinobi games. People overlook them but they're pretty fun and unique.

You guys are tempting me to start collecting Game Gear games again but I'm going to be strong and try not to.

Used to have a great golf game on the GG. Maybe Links or something, I remember loading it up with batteries and having a tournament with my father when the power went out.

Gunstar: It's a private guy with just a few items up at a time, usually like I do, except recently where I've had more trying to just get it over with. But you're right if it's a big fish they can make you wait like to a once a week ship day I've seen. I'm not bothered by it, just seemed odd in this case.

flash: Links?! Hmmm...I loved Links 386 back in the day for DOS. If that's on Game Gear I'm tracking it down. Thanks for the heads up. Links was my thing back then, never much liked the EA stuff (ever) for more realistic play.

EDIT: It doesn't exist, have any idea which one it was if you look at the game gear game list over at sega retro?

Always wanted to get my GG collection up to 100 carts.
I think I'm sitting on around 80 right now.

Most wanted are probably:
The other 2 Mickey Mouse games (I have CoI)
Samurai Shodown (used to own)
Mazes of Death
Double Dragon
Star Wars (I do have RotJ, impressive port there)
Micro Machines
Alien Syndrome

Just no $ in my GG budget right now. Other systems taking priority.

I've never heard of that Mazes of Death either, now I"m intrigued. Now those others I have, and as you saw I have SS. Was Star Wars any good, or just a port of that shoddy NES game? I added mazes and DD to my pick up list, forgot to add world of illusion but had land. GG is so cheap I'm whittling away slowly into it. I'd love to own Mega Man some day but realistically little to no game is worth $100 to me, especially on a handheld. Hell I didn't pay more than $70~ for Trip World and that was flip cash as it was.

Edit: That is a solid list, what are some you all favorite games for the Game Gear anyway? I'm good looking into stuff I've never heard of as I watched Maze of Death on youtube and that's amazingly good stuff there.

The truth of it is back when I had a thousands of game dozens of systems type pile of stuff until most went down the usual way I had one of these and around 15-20 games at best. I grabbed up mostly the first party junk and a few others I knew well like Ninja Gaiden, Aerial Assault, etc. That's why I'm open to suggestion as this is new ground much like in a way the Genesis was and is too because I only had so much time and when you brainlessly collect far more than play, little ever gets used more than once and to me that's just not a good way to spend time or money.

Gah! Got the name wrong :x (I hate when I do that).
Yeah, Arena Maze of Death is a pretty obscure one, but always looked interesting to me. Just never ran into the game when I was more heavily collecting for the system.

As for my recs, they really aren't much different than what most people already know and have said.
Also, there's really not a WHOLE lot worth tracking down. I just take an interest in the system.
But what the heck, here's my top 20 (only one game per series; no order to my madness, I think I've shared a few game recs before, but whatever):

Shinobi II: The Silent Fury
Sonic Triple Trouble (also like the 1st one, but this one I played to completion, minus chaos emeralds)
X-Men (like it for no merit-worthy reason, other than it let's you explore levels as various X-Men, also liked Gamemaster's Legacy, which has more detailed characters, still need to play Mojo World)
Psychic World (it was one of my 1st games; you learn to enjoy it)
Streets of Rage 1 or 2, (fun on Genesis, fun on Game Gear)
Road Rash (ditto)
Halley Wars
Fantasy Zone
Super Space Invaders
Fatal Fury Special (impressive port, even if it's unnecessary. same goes for Samurai Shodown)
Woody Pop
Devilish
Bust-a-Move (sure it's one everything, but I like this port)
Columns
Dragon Crystal
Ax Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe (just because; I know it's lackluster and short)
Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap (euro import, port of the SMS game)
Shining Force: the Sword of Hajya
Crystal Warriors

Mega Man is still fun, but not worth your time (and no original levels/content). Stick to the Game Boy ports (or better yet, get the collection for 3DS).

Star Wars is a slightly different than the NES game (from what I've read, better), but plays the same.

Here's a few that I want to recommend, but haven't spent adequate time with
or
are difficult to acquire:
Baku Baku (underrated, also on Saturn but well suited for a handheld as most puzzlers are)
Aleste and Power Strike II (different than the SMS games and very fun shooters)
Star Wars Return of the Jedi (1st impressions are it looks like a good port of the SNES, which I liked)
Vampire: Master of Darkness (closest thing to Castlevania you will find on GG; fun from the level I played)
Batman Returns (reminds me of Shinobi II GG so far; really need to play it)
Tails Adventure (just didn't absorb me; need to give another chance as it looks pretty unique)
Wizard Pinball (import; recommended if you like pinball)

Otherwise, there's still a lot that I haven't played at all.
