I don't think we can be friends anymore....

In all seriousness, though, I know some people enjoyed it, but I think Resident Evil 5 was the absolute bottom of the shit barrel for that series, and that's including the weird spin-offs (Dead Aim), the bad spin-offs (Outbreak), and the definitely-just-copies-Left-4-Dead-in-third-person spin-off (Operation Raccoon City).

Resident Evil 6, on the other hand, while I know a lot people hated, I thoroughly enjoyed Leon's campaign, and I really didn't mind the other campaigns.

Leon's campaign was my least favorite by far. It was so slow paced and boring, with absolutely no TRUE exploration or puzzles anywhere. It was so utterly dry and boring, and he barely has any good weapons for something that, when you strip away those stupid "points" that replaced all the cool gems/items/customization etc from RE4-RE5, RE6 is truly nothing but an action game, and Leon's campaign tried so hard to be more when... it had nothing more to offer. Where was Leon's snarky humor too? Hated it. :P

Also Leon's new partner SUCKED. Sheva was cooler, and Sheva isn't very cool. I can't even remember Leon's partner's name anymore. So forgettable.

From a gameplay perspective Chris and whatever the other guy was (already forgot his name) had better missions and was more fun. Ada's was whatever since it had some copy/paste sections.

RE5 streamlined things big time after RE4, but the gameplay still had way more to it and there's tons of replay value. The point/skill system for RE6 was so lame.

RE6 is hardly as bad as most make it out to be though, but it's not amazing and probably nothing I'll ever replay. 6/10 for me. I like it more than Revelations. My mind explodes when people think that was taking RE back to the roots. Awful combat worse than RE4-RE6, and some of the worst characters in the franchise history. Are you reading this Popo? Steve from CV is far more likeable than half of Revelation's cast. Well basically, every new character was garbage and the fun B-grade cheese and charm was nowhere to be found anymore. Finally... we get Jill and Chris together in the ultimate budget title that's fan fiction come to life! I'd probably give Revelations a phat 3/10 or something.

Still want to give Revelations 2 a shot though.

Oh god...

I've been distracted by Dino Crisis which has been awesome so far. I don't understand why people find the DDK's hard; the game explains you use the key to remove letters from the cipher and they always are some English word that is probably related to what the door locks. The game even nicely tells you about the various variations of how to remove letters.

I watched one youtube review that basically boiled down to "I thought I was going to get Turok but instead I got Resident Evil. Dino Crisis 2 is better because zomg shooting all the dinos." Fortunately, he explained the things he didn't like well enough that I realized it was exactly what I was looking for.

Midway through Chris's campaign in RE6 and it's just feeling like crap :P. It's so boring and sloppy. There are definitely a lot more crazy/interesting bosses compared to Leon's campaign but they are also way to easy and predictable. Was really psyched when the snake boss showed up, but that completely fizzled away with the lazy as hell room to room battle and then the fantastic flip this switch 2-3 times finale. Chris is also pretty unlikable in this game and comes off as an ass the majority of the time which sucks.

Thinking I might play Adas campaign next because her character is all over the place in this game which I know is kind of her gimmick, but her motivations are extremely unclear. Was going to save her campaign for last but I just want to clear up my nagging suspicions already.
I'm totally expecting some lazy evil twin/clone twist or BS at the end.
Really the thing that is bugging me is nothing in this game is really a threat. All the zombies and creatures are so gimped that unless you stand still you are in no danger whatsoever. Playing the Agent Hunt mode makes that even more clear as the zombies can't handle worth a damn and you really get a sense of why it's so difficult for the AI to hit you when given the ridiculous delays on 90% of the attacks.

somehow I missed this news. Did y'all hear about Umbrella Corps? It's apparently basically a Resi spin-off of sorts. And it's a competitive shooter?

Coming in May June. Not sure what to make of it. Yet.

Yup heard about it noise, it's looking like an Operation Racoon City successor I'm keeping an eye out for it.

A lot of people write Operation City off as a bad RE game but there are redeemable quality's. Main thing is it was made by the Socom team (not sure original team or not?) so it's pretty much a RE/Socom hybrid and that's pretty much that, pretty cool I say.

I really enjoyed Operation Raccoon City since I went into it not expecting a "true" Resident Evil game. It's all about expectations. Reminds me of Soul Calibur Legends on the Wii - I hated it at first because I went into it expecting a standard Soul Calibur fighter. When I picked it up again years later, I really enjoyed it because that time, I went into it expecting an ARPG instead of a fighting game.

I haven't seen anything about an Umbrella Corps physical release. Anyone know if it's getting a physical console release, or is it going to be digital only?

this seems like a common reaction to me. I feel like everyone I know who play ORC ended up reluctantly liking it - sometimes only in hindsight. And I do totally plan to play it. I tend to like the weird RE spin-offs because they often do at least interesting divergences to what the mainline series does.

Not a clue. Being a PC gamer, I usually only buy a physical version if it's a lot cheaper that way or if there's some compelling reason (physical extras that really matter functionally for instance - maybe a map or whatever). But I guess the release was bumped from May to June in Japan already, so I don't know.

It will be a physical release!

I cross theories with games to music as far as it comes to polarizing opinions of what's expected. If your a successful artist in any form and have a long standing of particular fan base you will get flack for attempting something different, however at this point a artist is most likely looking to try something different for the sake of creativity and challenge it just may not be well accepted but doesn't mean it's failed (for the most part). Especially when you have a successful product there are times when you can take a chance worth the gamble.

Music has always been fashion for the ears with tastes changing with the seasons same could apply to game development.
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.
