I might jump in on this. I'm terrible at Spelunky, so no chance of ghost mining or high scores here but I'm a big fan of roguelikes and feel I didn't really give it enough of a chance first time around (because I was making so little progress).

Yall better come correct, I had an epic run last night with a score of $500 on 1-1...

As I started the first map, our youngest cat jumped up on to the coffee table my laptop was sitting on and knocked a glass over. In the hustle to grab everything I died on the first spike trap. EPIC RUN COMPLETE. I fired it back up and got to 3-4 and died trying to get into the spaceship.

Thanks! I was pleased. I have a tough time with those spike pits and the jungle vines, almost always kill me and I end up bombing through, but I was out of bombs.

I plan to play tonight - so, I only get one run...is there a way to practice the mechanics before that? I imagine playing the main game?

Yes main game is "practice" and daily challenge is your one shot per day to post a score here.

Score is all money. So spend or dont spend it wisely when playing for score.

First two levels were shaping up for a good run but then I'd never seen a level like the third and immediately got destroyed, definitely need more practice.

Also is there any point in saving the girl?
