watched Prometheus tonight - finishing up our Alien/Predator marathon. I actually love Premetheus. Such a weird movie. It's like Scott decided all those years later to use the Alien universe to make a big budget art film. Really great.

Until Alien Covenant, The Predator, and "Alien 5" come out... looks like we'll have to check out some of the mockbusters to tide us over.

Saw Batman vs. Superman during $5 Tuesday it wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be but it definitely could have used a good trim and more focused plot. In all honesty it could have been a really good film if they had just focused Batman, Superman, and Lex. The whole Justice League side of the movie felt unnecessary/distracting and honestly would have been much more effective stuffed into a teaser at the end. Doomsday also really felt half assed he is just kind of crammed in there at the end just like Wonder Woman who really felt squeezed into the film :P. As far as the casting went I thought Ben Affleck was actually a pretty solid Batman and everyone else was pretty good as well... except for Jesse Eisenberg playing Lex that just didn't work for me. I watched a few reviews online before deciding to see it and one mentioned how Jesse Eisenberg almost came off feeling like Jim Carrey in this movie and that was all I could think about the entire time he was on screen  .

Altogether it really ends up feeling like 2-3 movies were poorly edited together. You can feel them rushing to get to the Justice League movie as if they are trying to catch up to Marvel or something and the film really suffered for it :P.

On a side note I thought it was funny as hell that Batman is a killing machine for once. They didn't even dance around it or try to excuse it he just flat out kills 50+ bad guys over the course of the film  .

Yeah, the Jesse Eisenberg thing burns even more when you learn that Bryan Cranston had originally been considered for the role of Lex, and they were looking at Eisenberg to play Jimmy Olsen. Apparently Singer met with Eisenberg to discuss Olsen and then suddenly wanted him to play Lex Luthor.

Bryan Cranston would look weird bald though, right?

Damn. Cranston would have nailed Luthor.

I also saw Batman V Superman yesterday and as many people have said, it is indeed a hot mess. It's not the worst superhero movie I've ever seen in the cinema (Spider-Man 3 and Batman + Robin vie for that crown) but it's still stupid, tonally inconsistent, riddled with plot holes and anything that isn't an action scene is shot as flat as possible. The music and sound sucks as well. I had to physically cover my ears on two occasions to escape it.

I'd put it on the same level as Star Trek: Into Darkness; if you just want dumb action there's some fun to be had but the script is garbage and totally misses the point and feeling of the beloved characters upon which it is based.

Star Warts is a textbook example of when a cultural phenomenon turns into a hot mess. Yes the movie is goofy and entertaining and the empire still skimps out on basic things like failsafes, CCTV and railings for walkways for their plant-sized destroyers (and even archdemon Snoopy is kind of adorable in his own CG way), but SW itself makes no sense in the millennial age.

That's all you have to say? Geez that movie is hilarious and heart warming at the minimum in my view

(On a side note minus horror movies is there a huge list of classic movies that can be viewed on hulu/netflix/crackle or elsewhere? I feel like i need to watch all the classic movies or at least those predating about 2000-10 that one should see but probably hasn't...)
