How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?

I just got Animaniacs and one I've been looking for a long time, X-Men Mutant Apocalypse. Who'd have thought Capcom could make a better X-Men game than anyone else, and use Street Fighter commands for moves no less!

As the biggest SNES apologist ever, I have to say Clone Wars for Genesis is better.

I got sucked into DoReMi Fantasy for a few hours last night, hadn't touched it in a long time. What a great game, yeah it's reaaaaaaaally easy but it's super accessible and it's open to be approached in different ways. It's a great speed-run game, for instance

This game has such a soothing ethereal vibe to it. It's really cool.

Clone Wars is quite good, I have to admit. I like both games, though.

Been playing Mega Man X2. I have the MMX collection (PS2/Gamecube), but thought that since I do own the original cart, I ought to give it due respect.

Had to look up how to get 2 of the reserve tanks, but found all other upgrades.

Wish me luck on the final levels.
I plan to play Secret of Mana, Lufia, or Breath of Fire after I beat MMX2.

Picked up Stunt Race FX this weekend! Also cleared Levels 1 & 2 on Star Fox. Got 59,900 on Level 2, 100 short of perfection. Those Super FX games aren't bad!

Was ready to tear my hair out the first hour and a half session I put into 7th Saga, but I've taken a little bit of a turn. I mean, it REALLY feels like an Enix SNES game: Interesting premise, and grindy as fuck. It reminds me that there's a good reason I haven't imported the Dragon Quest games for SFC yet Xp

But aside from my grind bashing, the game does actually try some cool things. It does appear to actually acknowledge the grinding by setting item prices about as high as it'll take you to grind to a good enough level to continue, letting the player get an impression of what level they should be by the items they can afford. Granted I think having a well-paced RPG is a much more fun decision, I can commend them for at least trying to add some forgiveness to the Asian-style heavy level grinding.

Also, for a game that likes to kill you so much, it has a very forgiving death system. None of this "And they were never heard from again..." business. Die, and you just get put back to town with half as much cash, and you can even 'store' your cash by buying gems at towns which you can sell for exactly as much as you buy. Granted this did bring me to the question of "why even have you lose cash in the first place?" but it's just an Enix thing apparently: That's why almost every Dragon Quest game has banks you can store your dosh in so you don't lose it when you die.

I'm only 3 hours in and am trying to get strong enough to go to the dungeon with the first rune in, but taking it in half to 1-ish hour bursts seems to be better than binging it. It almost feels like a game I'd like more if it were portable, where it's easier to stomach grinding.

Do you have the even more rare MMX3 on SNES? If not... for whatever insane reason the MMX3 version on the collection is the PS1/Saturn/PC version, which has some brief neat cutscenes like X4, but the music is crap in comparison to me.

This one stands out the most...





I mean, crap is probably a stretch, but it makes it an inconsistent experience when you've still got the same sprites as the previous two games. That metallic SNES sound is the blood of these games, and the CD version lacks the punch.
