Technically, CV did. And it looks like poo. lolnoiseredux wrote:I'd actually love to see Code Veronica get the HD treatment. Such a cool game. But, I'm pretty sure RE2 is the next title we'll see being re-released.
It is highly unfortunate that CV ditched pre-rendered backdrops. Zero and REmake look godly in comparison, despite all being released around the same time.
I think they porting RE4-6 is kind of hilarious, but if they do get a bit remastered and have new features I might check RE5 out again since I really like that one. I just need to see if it's worth it. I imagine the RE4 release will just be a direct port of the HD remaster.
Also they are actually remaking RE2 entirely from what I hear, so it won't be an upscale/remaster kind of thing.

Are 4 and 5 getting a physical release (either bundled like 0 and REmake or stand alone like 6)?Xeogred wrote:I think they porting RE4-6 is kind of hilarious, but if they do get a bit remastered and have new features I might check RE5 out again since I really like that one. Also, I think you're right about RE2. Last I heard, it was getting a complete overhaul and modernization a la the Gamecube's REmake.

I think they're actually taking it a step further, RE2 is going to be a REAL remake. Thank you Capcom for confusing us. I don't think it'll be the same thing at all. Granted REmake added a lot of content, it's still kind of the same game underneath. I was hoping they would just update the graphics myself and then maybe somehow throw in a mode that lets you play it like RE4 if you wanted. I wonder how it'll turn out now.ElkinFencer10 wrote:Are 4 and 5 getting a physical release (either bundled like 0 and REmake or stand alone like 6)?Xeogred wrote:I think they porting RE4-6 is kind of hilarious, but if they do get a bit remastered and have new features I might check RE5 out again since I really like that one. No idea on the physical releases, but that's a good question. I have RE4 HD on PS3, but if it gets a physical release this time I'll have to get it. That way after I get the Wii release as well, I will have 5 version of RE4!

I love the Resident Evil Series too...(RE1 awesomely cheesy,RE2 and RE3 were both amazing)
HOWEVER I have never played RE4. I always want to but my backlog is so huge i think it might actually try this time especially since you mentioned its Lovecraftian themes. I'm honestly just scared to play it because everyone says how great it is and I dont want to be disappointed. But Loved the post man.

you should really give RE4 a go. It's praised for a reason. Like I said, it's miles away from RE1, but it's phenomenal.TechXRenAgadeX wrote:I love the Resident Evil Series too...(RE1 awesomely cheesy,RE2 and RE3 were both amazing)

I think the X360 CV is HD? Otherwise I would like to see a newer version of an actual remake!noiseredux wrote:I'd actually love to see Code Veronica get the HD treatment. Such a cool game. But, I'm pretty sure RE2 is the next title we'll see being re-released.

I should have said: I'd actually love to see Code Veronica get the HD treatment... on PC. Right now REmake, Zero and 4-6 are on Steam. And if you want to do some digging, you can still get your hands on the old physical PC releases of 2 and 3. But unfortunately CV never got a PC release at all, so I'd be excited if that one got announced.TEKTORO wrote:I think the X360 CV is HD? Re: Resident Evil series appreciation thread
I second Noise; play Resident Evil 4. Personally, I suggest playing it on Wii, but I'm a sucker for the use of motion controls in that game. Of the two sixth gen releases, the Gamecube original has much better visuals, but the Playstation 2 port had some extra features; the Wii version has the visuals of the Gamecube version with the features of the Playstation 2 version, so it's the definitive version IMO.TechXRenAgadeX wrote:I love the Resident Evil Series too...(RE1 awesomely cheesy,RE2 and RE3 were both amazing)

No matter what version you play, it's arguably the best game in the series. I, personally, will always love Resident Evil 2 the most, but a lot of people say 4 is the best and for good reason. It does, however, suffer a little bit from Final Fantasy VII Syndrome - it has been hyped to the point where no one's first playthrough will really match up to the internet's deification of it. If you just go into to it aware of that, though, you'll still have the experience of a lifetime.

Correction: It's one of the best games ever made.
Capcom's last hurrah during that late PS2 era. They were on fire.
