RPG Progress Report

Still at it today. I bought the Silver Shield, so all that's left to do is grind until I'm ready for the final boss. People only say it's possible at level 18, but 19 or 20 would be a better level to attempt it.

I'm just about to hit level 17. So sick of grinding now.

Don't attempt to grind in the final dungeon. Enemies will take too much out you. At least that's what I found.

And yes, the grinding in the game can be insanely tedious. I would mute the game, put on a good CD (substitute that with iPod or whatever it is you kids do), and just zone out.

I'm finally done with the forest after spending about 10 hours dealing with it. Level 28. Just starting some cave quests.

Red Dragons can go fuck themselves.

Twice I've died to a random red dragon in the last room of Dragon Warrior. Not made it to the boss yet.

EDIT: 4 attempts ended on the first red dragon I encountered in the place. The 5th attempt ended on the second red dragon I encountered, who appeared ONE FUCKING SQUARE away from the first

Do not fight anything in the final dungeon, chief.

Go into the dungeon at the level you plan to beat the game at. Make a beeline straight to the final boss and run from the haters.

I am 100% aware, and I've had the Sword for the last 8 levels of grinding.

I'm just failing to run from the fucking dragons.

EDIT: Fuck it. I'm done for today. I'm not even coming close to beating Dragonlord, I clearly need more levels. I've spent 4 hours grinding today, and my future holds another couple of hours of absolute tedium.

Dragon Warrior has absolutely destroyed any good will I had for it in this last section of the game. What a pile of crap.

In the caves now. Level 24. I feel pretty overpowered but I'm sure that the caves boss will still prove to be a giant pain in the assicle.

That is exactly where I am.

Apparently, I had no problems beating the hardest boss in the game. But, now, I get to do the hardest mission in the game because it is an escort mission.

For the escort missions, take advantage of the doorways. Telepipes can also help in sticky situations.

Here is how I spent about 5 hours of my Sunday today:

Unfortunately, I was torn apart by this guy:


I eventually found a battle simulator online which estimated that I had a 3% chance of winning at level 19. However, it said I had over 90% chance at level 20. So, it was back to the grind (also, I didn't screenshot here, so these are from earlier in the day:




Eventually, I got to level 20. I started today at level 13 with 9000 exp. I finished the day at level 20 with 26000- ALMOST TRIPLE the whole game up to the grind for the final boss. Urgh.

I beat the fucker though:
