Random thoughts....

Reproduction cover art should be clearly distinguished from factory cover art. Either by the printing / paper stock just being totally different or by the word 'reproduction' somewhere on the cover.

I'm fairly sure the emanual always streams from the Internet, not from the disc. I will pop some discs in and disable my wifi at some point, but I always had the impression it pulled from Nintendo's site.

Games haven't been without manuals for ten years, come on now.... Most of the Wii generation had at least a 'controls' type manual. And a good number of Wii U games have had manuals. Yes, it's on the decline. As far as PS3/360, I don't pay much attention to their packaging trends.

Omitting the manual seems like a fair way to reproduce the game at a discount price. We could debate the pros and cons of changing the cover art with a 'selects'/'players choice', but leaving out the manual seems fair to me with the development of the emanual.

I would have liked to see Star Fox 3D as a Select. Maybe trade places with Yoshi's New Island. Ocarina as a Select is awesome though. Everyone should play it.

See my Wii and Gamecube Guide for an expanded article on the Selects vs Original

http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1032924#p1032924

I had concerns if the case is the Selects or Original. I Emailed the Seller.

CRTGAMER: "Sorry to bug you again. Just confirming there is a Pikmin 3 game manual inside from the original release, the main reason why I am purchasing this. The newer Selects version only has a flyer inside, looking for the actual game manual."

VIDEO GAME DISCOUNTS: "No problem. Yes it has the manual."

I'll find out next week, Estimated delivery Tue, Mar 22." :D

I was able to take back the Nintendo Selects DK and get a nice used one with original art and manual and saved $3. I'm still looking for NES Remix though.

I think you are right the Manual is streamed which means it will not be permanent available as Nintendo moves on to the next console. At least the PDF (for now) can be saved to the PC hard drive.

I compared the Pikmin 3 PDF from the Nintendo site, it is identical to the paper manual from the original release. However, EVERY page of the PDF has a huge "Nintendo Manual" water mark! :?

:D A good thing, grab the original to get the paper manual at the same price. I wonder if any of the Select games have bug fixes or additional features (just on disc though!) making worth getting the newer edition?

Bump: A new set of Nintendo Selects are coming! Amiibo Bundles, too.

http://nintendoeverything.com/nintendo- ... o-bundles/

Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Nintendo 3DS
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon - Nintendo 3DS
Tomodachi Life - Nintendo 3DS
nintendogs + cats: Golden Retriever & New Friends - Nintendo 3DS
LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins - Nintendo 3DS

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - Wii U
Nintendo Land - Wii U
LEGO City Undercover - Wii U

I for one am excited to be able to possibly get a copy of Lego City, Luigi's Mansion, and finally Wind Waker.

The price does drop to all of these to 19.99, so if you don't like the aesthetic of the Nintendo Selects (Pikmin 3 looked great), you can purchase the non-greatest hits variant for that price, too.

I'm a bit surprised Lego City Undercover sold well enough to warrant a Selects release for the WiiU. Good on them I guess. It was a huge whiff to take out the local co-op that is in EVERY OTHER lego game imo. Never played completely through that one because of it.

This I'm not positive on. I recently tried to purchase a NES Remix (original) at Target, hoping the SKUs were the same and it would be the Selects price (which were also in stock there) and it was different - and still $29.99.

I'm surprised Nintendo Land is getting a selects release felt like the market was/is flooded with copies. I remember grabbing a CIB copy at game stop for sub $5 ages ago.

Probably will end up picking these up at Bestbuy for $16 with the GCU discount plus I have some rewards certificates built up again.
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon - Nintendo 3DS
Tomodachi Life - Nintendo 3DS (not 100% on this seemed like I heard it was pretty bland after a while)
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD - Wii U (Still don't have a Wii U but at this price I'll go ahead and grab it like I did with Pikmin 3)

I was really close to just buying a copy at whatever price is what at (cause I get fed up sometimes and just want to play the game), but now I'm glad I held out.

I'm not excited for this batch of games, as I already have some of them and the others don't interest me. But what does have me excited is that nintendo has done a round of value titles less than half a year from the last round. I hope they keep the ball rolling and I can get some more reasonably priced wii u and 3ds games.
