Proof that Sega has no idea what people want. They know people will buy Sonic no matter what, but seriously.. People seem to have the opinion Sega finally figured 3-D Sonic out with this game... except for the Were-hedgehog nonsense. Its so sad to see them run Sonics reputation so far into the ground. Eventually people will figure out that the games are bad and stop buying them.

Oh god...

I have avoided buying any new Sonic games after Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360... what an abomination that is. I payed $5 for it and feel THAT was too much.

Sega has ruined Sonic almost to the point of no return.

I still hold out hope for true successor to Sonic 3 & Knuckles but sadly I don't think it will ever happen.

The saddest thing is they were on the right track. But when they'd fix one thing with a sonic game they'd ruin another. Sonic Adventure was good but the hub world slowed it down. They took it out in SA2. SA2 was good but there were still too many pointless gameplay styles. In Sonic heroes they finally ditched the multiple gameplay styles but they crapped it up with character swapping, non-existant story, and some really lame choices that felt like pure laziness. Some of the bosses weren't even bosses, it was just an arena where you had to fight a bunch of enemies over and over. The bosses that were bosses were lame. And they didn't refine the gameplay enough (still bottomless pits and cheap hits).

If they had a good story like sonic adventure 2, straightforward stages like sonic heroes without the multiple characters, and good bosses they could make a great game.

I continue to say that Red Mountain in Sonic Adventure was the best stage of any 3D sonic game, it captured the feel of the old games. It was fast but still platformer-y, there were a lot of holes to fall in but not in a cheap way.

I played Sonic Adventure,it was alright but it wasn't as fun as the older sonic games. The main reason I didn't like it because they made him talk and he sounds like a idiot in that game.I still think that a 2D Sonic game is way to make Sonic popular again, like the GBA Sonic games 8)

sonic was invented 19 years ago, it was cool 19 years ago
at least 8 years ago sonic stopped being cool. Maybe it is time to move on.

Nintendo knew exactly how to deal with Mario , and they used it to their advantage.
we have 3 mario games in the last 12 years. How many sonic games do we have?
If sonic can't be 3D , then it can't.

I am bothered to see such a good character go, but nothing is forever. Sega failed to make use of sonic. I do not think that it is a coincidence that all of Nintendo's characters still play great even decades after they were out like Mario, Samus, Link. I think we can say same about Sega which all of their characters suck now days. Maybe they should hire some Nintendo guys.

If SEGA used the 2.5d/3d engine from Unleashed to create a new HD Sonic game with classic 2d gameplay and none of this werehog bullshit, then sold it on XBLA & PSN as well as in stores & provided a host of downloadable content such as new levels & characters or re-creations of the original Sonic games within the new engine, then i'm pretty certain it'd be a huge success - obviousley, they won't though, because SEGA are no longer in the business of pleasing their fans, they're in the business of making a quick buck - why bother spending time & money pandering to the fanbases demands, when you can just release another shitty Sonic game certain in the knowledge that idiot kids & parents are sure to purchase it?

All that a good sonic game needs is someone to sit down and get the mechanics to mesh properly with action stages that were crafted with the mechanics in mind. Once they think they have it right. TEST IT TO THE POINT THAT THE SYSTEM OVER HEATS AND EXPLODES. If the extensive testing proves that their are faults in the game, THEN GO BACK AND FIX THEM. Even if they have to tear apart huge chunks of coding.
Who the hell do they have testing all these 3D sonic games? Little 8 year old kids that dont know that games can be bad?
Must be. Even though they are being marketed to kids...they deserve to be good. Mario games are well crafted.

in all reality i have problems saying that sonic was my hero as a kid.even with a great legacy it had in the past! many honeslt really forgot what sonic was about and while speed was a gimmik, it wasent what it was about. it was the solid platforming! i miss that i dont want a werehogs and silly little new sidekicks and i dont want to be in a mech or have a sword or gun! i want strickly just sonic no strings attached.
