Pretty cool. I wish that he built it in an orange imac though.

Very cool
Didn't Sega make something in a similar form factor and release it in Japan?

It was called the Divers 2000. See this link to the Dreamcast junkyard article:

Looks kinda like an alien.

Oh my, I have an old iMac that I acquired that's just begging for this mod. Wonder if there is anyway of getting it to work with the crt monitor that's already inside it...

I don't see why not. The Dreamcast outputs an RGB that's natively readable by the standard computer CRT. I would imagine you have to dicker with the wiring a bit, due to the iMac being integrated, but nothing major.

you should be able to, the system I took apart; the internal monitor plugged into the board with a video cable much like a regular computer, I found this cable is not exactly VGA, you would need to make an adapter.

originally I was going to use the original monitor, but I came across a suitable LCD - besides, using an LCD computer monitor cuts the weight of the system by more then half.

Thanks for the reply Logicdustbin, I love your mod, It's very clean and just looks great.

My only other issue with regarding using the internal CRT with a DC inside it is heat. Would it get too hot in there for the DC + CRT?

Also, would it be possible to run them both off the same iMac PSU?

I don't see why not, the PSU is running a CRT and a full computer in one package - replacing the computer with a DC should not make a difference the psu.
