I would probably be more interested in the game if Vanillaware had stuck with the more *ahem* "reserved" character designs. As it is, playing through the game with my wife would likely subject me to a running feminist critique. (Not that she wouldn't enjoy the game...she is a big fan of beat 'em up / hack 'n slash games.)

I'm genuinely surprised at the lack of Dragon's Crown love here.

My wife was not bothered in the slightest by the exaggerated female designs in this game. She is not one to be upset about such things, thankfully. She knows I like hentai and ecchi artwork anyway, and once I asked her why that doesn't offend her. "Because it's not real. What are you going to do, have sex with a cartoon?"

I'm playing as the Wizard 'cause offensive magic ho! My wife's playing as the Elf.

You get some for playing and can trade for the other half. They can then be used to level up your profile or get things like backgrounds/emoticons related to the set.

I feel they may not be aimed at you, which doesn't matter as they are non intrusive and can be totally ignored.
