I bought a new 20GB 360 Pro in October 2008. When I first turn it on after not being used for a few hours I don't get a picture and the wireless controller doesn't sync. The picture is missing with both HDMI and component. If I leave the console on for 3-5 minutes and then cycle the power it works fine. It's almost as if the thing needs to warm up.
I figure I'll have to call MS about this someday. Just curious if it's a known issue or something. This behavior is nothing new, it's been there from the beginning.
Thanks.
Weird Xbox 360 behavior
Re: Weird Xbox 360 behavior
If it's been there since the beginning why didn't you just take it back to the store for a straight swap?

This would have been the correct thing to do, they would have told you "we cant return it but we can exchange it for the exact same item" boom new xbox.Niode wrote:If it's been there since the beginning why didn't you just take it back to the store for a straight swap?

Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.
Re: Weird Xbox 360 behavior
Long story, but I got it during an FYE clearance sale ($150 AR). By the time I tested it the local stores were sold out so no go on the swap. I figured I'd just fall back on the MS warranty.
Re: Weird Xbox 360 behavior
I'd take it back to the store if you have the receipt. Sometimes stores will just replace them as long as it's not been longer than 12 months.
In the UK all stores are obligated to do this. Even after 12 months we are still protected by consumer standards, if an item dies within a reasonable age (IE less than 2 years) you've still got rights to get a like-for-like replacement regardless of warranty. I've done this plenty of times when printers have died after less than 24 months. They tend to die very often for some reason... I don't buy cheap ones either for this reason. I usually get about 3-4 years out of them. Which is nowhere near as long as they should last but what ya gonna do?
