I have a bunch of shot-on-video garbage that I've collected over the years (mostly flea market finds) but I like to make my own editions of personal favorites with front/back covers that I add home-made intros and outros to. Recently I've made video copies of Frozen Scream, Magic Lizard and The Child (1971). I'm actually doing a big run of some stuff next week if you wanted to send me your address I'll send you a couple! I'll sometimes play games for hours while hooked up to a vcr and add game-overs and stuff to fill out tape space.

wait, so basically you're finding old VHS tapes of horror flicks and transferring them - AND adding bumpers like you're the host of a Creature Feature show and then providing them with custom artwork?
That... is awesome, man.
Back in the day (before Youtube and broadband that made downloading out-of-print movies easy was a thing) I'd often order bootleg VHS transfer DVR's. At most they'd have printouts of the VHS art. What you're doing sounds really really cool.
You should somehow catalog this stuff. I don't know copyright stuff and all - but at the least maybe archive your intros/outros and artwork and stuff. Not sure if you could store all these editions on a Youtube channel (legally) or not. I don't know. Brainstorming. But this sounds really neat.
A similar - though less time-consuming project that my wife and I used to do was we'd rip old trailers to DVD. Whenever we found odd trailers on VHS tapes we'd compile them on to this DVDR we were keeping. Of course again, Youtube has made this kind of pointless now. I'm not even sure what I did what that disc over the years.

That's exactly what I'm doing! Really psyched to hear you're into this sort of thing. Its called Nebraska Video (as I used to live on Nebraska Ave. in Tampa, FL - notorious for its lowlives - when I first started doing it) and the mascot is my buddy Carlos who goes as Nebraska Nick (your typical reverb-drenched, bleach-soaked psycho who loves watching low budget movies).
I can take some pictures of my front/back covers and PM them to ya later if you're interested though I'd honestly like to just send ya some when I do my next run! I have an insane amount of crappy VHS that I use to dub over so it wouldn't be a problem!
I'd love to see some of those trailers. I think there's a lot to curating a cool disc of something like that whether or not its available on youtube.
Glad to meet someone with these sorta interests on here!
@droppedcasket - If you were able to provide some sorta catalog (photographs of lined paper in pencil crayons would be totally awesome, but text is good too) I am also interested in your prints.
Is there any chance of getting a video shipped to BC, Canada for under $25 USD? That is the going rate for unpublished (and therefore unavailable) indie films on DVD.
Hello, I'm new here. Keyglyph from the Video Game Jukebox podcast recommended it and I'm always looking for places to talk about retro videogames.
I post as yaktaur on Bay12 forums (rarely) and Talking Time (a bit less rarely), but also used to post on Legacy Music Hour's blog as Kenny (Shoryukenny).

Hello! Welcome to Racketboy!
I hope you have a fun time seeing our favorite games talked about and our light hearted arguments on random topics.
I would love to hear about what its like to be a gamer in India. Retro or modern. How hard or easy is it to get games over there? Or do you emulate? How's your PC gaming there too?
take your time and say it here or start a new thread!

What's up guys! Benjamin here from Los Angeles California
I'm no collector but I love playing retro games. I started trying to get into retro gaming 4-5 years ago with my first purchase being my favorite game of all time Shining Soul II for the GBA to make youtube playthroughs. Throughout those years watching AVGN and many more onther retro youtubers along with speedruns then being introduced to Twitch 3 years ago and just watching a bunch of Retro gaming got me wanting a lot more old games. Now that I have a great setup to stream on twitch and upload videos on youtube I am more than willing to do retro gaming. I've purchased a Retron 5 about a year and half ago and through that time all I have at the moment is a few games to play with and I hope I can find many more by being active here on Retro Collect! I have so much to say but would like to keep this short Anyways hope to get in touch with many of you and also expand my library of games
