They also brought him in as they modified the stories somewhat. They also added some new characters and classes, so had to incorporate that into the game. The new final ending was also an addition. The recorded orchestral music scores are nice. Some great music from TO and Ogre Battle.Exhuminator wrote:Wow, with that level of complexity, now I understand why SQEX actually brought Matsuno back in for this remake.
Admittedly the investment longevity sounds intimidating, but if it's truly pure SRPG bliss I'll stick with it.
PSP version isnt so much a port, but a re-imagining. The only thing I didnt like that they changed/added was crafting system. In the original, there were more unique weapons and armor. In the PSP version, they added a clunky crafting system. Most all of the gear is crafted, or you get special plans and such to craft the unique stuff, but you cab make multiples if you find some of the rare materials.
The crafting system itself is tedious, as crafting can fail, which leads to save scumming. Having crafting fail was totally pointless. You also often have to make x of this item to then make x/2 of this item plus x of this item to finally craft your armor. You cant queue these up.
So the crafting stuff is the only thing that mars what I would otherwise consider a masterpiece.
