Well even $50 is too much IMO. It's typical: Nintendo thinks that their product is worth more than every one else. They have very good evidence that people will pay the extra cost I'm sure.
Most of these HD remakes are $40 though, frustrating that this one is more. Especially since Nintendo titles don't ever seem to drop in price like the rest of the industry.

Nintendo's remasters are most definitely overpriced, without a shadow of a doubt. But what I will say though, is Nintendo go above and beyond with their remasters. They really do. Shitty pricing aside, I think Nintendo have become the king of remasters. I almost want to let them get away with their pricing... but regardless of the high quality and effort put in, there isn't any justification for charging full price (or almost full price) for an old game repackaged onto a new console.
But at least they put some quality work into them. They don't just take an old game, upscale the resolution and call it a day!

They don't need a justification, though. If people will pay for it, they'll sell it for that. Blame the Nintendo fans that will buy anything they put out at full price. (No, I am not that person, even if it might seem so.)

And their stuff never drops in price because they maintain a good tail of demand on them. Retailers don't need to shove inventory out the door to prepare for the next installment of Bro Game 5: Bro Harder.

I don't feel like I really enjoy Nintendo games any more than many super sequelized games so it's frustrating (to me).MrPopo wrote:And their stuff never drops in price because they maintain a good tail of demand on them. Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I don't consider myself a nintendo fan boy that'll buy anything they put out at full price, but as others have mentioned, their games just don't drop in price. I just bought my copy of smash brothers and I still payed full price for it, and that game has been out for almost two years. If I want anything first party for my wii u then I have no choice really but to pay that price, wether it's now for a new copy or three years down the road for a used copy that still has a sixty dollar price on it.Sarge wrote:They don't need a justification, though. For this reason I'm extremely happy with the upcoming nintendo selects, even though I have half of them. I don't care much for pikmin but I'll more than likely buy it because, let's be honest, when will I ever see first party nintendo titles for twenty bones again?

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I'm going to preface with this: I totally agree that Nintendo's remasters are overpriced. A remaster/rerelease should never cost more than $30 IMO.
WITH THAT SAID, however, as has been mentioned, Nintendo does a bang up job of their remasters. The only one that I've played that hit that level of legitimate upgrades and polish is The Last of Us. Also, it's not like they're doing HD rereleases left and right like some companies. They went a little crazy with the 3DS, but the 3D aspect at least gave those an aspect that you can't find anywhere else. Wind Waker was SO well done in addition to being a game that not a lot of people (relatively speaking) had the chance to play since the Gamecube wasn't that successful (though more so than the Wii U), so I'll give them a pass for that one. Twilight Princess, however, while a very well done remaster, didn't have the "umph" that Wind Waker had with the graphical boost, and this is the third consecutive Nintendo console to have that game whereas Wind Waker was only on Gamecube previously. TP should definitely have been $40 alone and $50 with the amiibo.
With Nintendo, though, you're paying for both the legacy of the series' name as well as quality (because, let's be fair - Nintendo, with very few exceptions, makes quality shit).

In fairness, though, while not a true fanboy since I play all three consoles, I'm like ONE step below full blown "Nintendo Fanboy" level, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Yeah, I was a Nintendo homer back in the day simply because that's all I had access to. Of course, for my gaming tastes, that was the right one to have. Emulation changed that, and it also prompted me to get a Genesis/Sega CD on the cheap. I've had that unit since '99. I'm also sitting on all the Sony systems, because that's where all the RPGs went for a while!
I definitely don't buy all their stuff, there were quite a few games that I didn't care for in the Nintendo Direct... but that's the name of the game. Gotta stay in business so I can gets my Zelda.
