As someone who mostly buys games online and prefers not to have my credit card charged I gotta say..... what the hell is up with eBay giftcards. They're terrible.

There's a lag in activation, you can't "apply" the gift card to your account and instead must enter the number when purchasing, and half the time they just straight up don't work. At least there's no surcharge when purchasing one.

So a Japanese PS2 I ordered last month arrived today! I decided to start playing some Beatmania IIDX for the first time in over a year and... ALL OF MY SKILLS HAVE VANISHED. T______T

Maybe I'll get Pop'n Music at some point and play that instead.

I love surfing around GameFAQs, just to learn weird/random stuff. This evening I was focused on Sega.

For instance, I knew that Sega had some NGPC releases during the early late 90s/early 2000s but didn't realize they had some Game Boy Color games as well:

Sega also collaborated with Midway for some Atari 2600 releases like Tapper and Spy Hunter.

Finally, DIS ARTWORK:

Video game history is cool.

I read because for a short time in the early 80s, Bally/Midway owned the American operations of Sega after Gulf & Western put them up for sale. It would explain why there were lots of Sega arcade games licensed by B/M around that time like Flicky, Bank Panic, Bull Fight, and Up N Down. Even the laserdisc game Astron Belt has both company names. Eventually the Japanese arm (itself also sold to another Japanese congolmerate) would buy the US Sega division by 1985 and that is how it exists right now.

Hahaha, I just got the games running and I'm scared to try. Needless to say, I doubt I can clear 10-11s anymore

Also, Pop'n is great, I wish I had 200$ to get an arcade-like controller.

Since when did Sega buy Atlus? Ugh....they better not ruin atlus....

Also game patching systems need to go away or at least games need to be tested more before pushing out the door. Seriously why is that once systems like ps3 and pc's started taking off and had patch systems built in that game quality tanked for a lot of things(looking at you big publishers who will release broken games that get patched later >_>)

I have been rocking my godawful 4:3 17 inch VGA screen for like 5 years since my other screens broke. Geez, I should really get a new one.

At first I thought about getting one of those old screen with tons of connectors so I could plug my consoles but the more I think about it, the less appealing it seems. I mean, given it would be a LED or Plasma screen and not a CRT, would it be really worth going through all the hassle in the name of "authenticity"?

So yeah, I should start looking for some suggestions.

Better than getting pushed out the door and never fixed.

I think a fair bit of it has to do with game complexity going up at the same time.

Indeed, I agree testing should be better... or at a minimum, actually fixing what QA identifies, because it's often the publisher wanting to rush the game out the door that causes issues.

Still, patches are here to stay, and they should be. Much better to actually have a vector by which you can fix things.
