I like how interface reminds me mech games like MechWarrior or Steel Batallion.

The biggest change was the leveling curves. Well, the rate at which you'd get your random stat increases. You don't have to hit your own party to get decent stat increases. That change alone makes a huge difference for how the game plays. I'd argue for the better, even if it does make the game pretty darn easy.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I played the GBA remake. I liked it a lot, and I don't think it changed much from the Famicom original (from a gameplay perspective, at least). I could be wrong about that, however.

I didn't think Ys: The Oath in Felghana was executed particularly well.
I'm new to the Ys series, and I liked that it wasn't a pushover. I liked fighting the bosses a few times to learn the patterns. It felt like old times. After a while, it became more about level grinding, which wasn't fun. There just weren't enough areas and enemies to keep it interesting. Some quality side quests would have been much appreciated.
The music was well done, but the sound effects were some of the worst. Did Falcom just search a public domain soundbank for cartoon noises? It hurt the game's identity. Plus, I played the PC version, which had a few unpolished environments. One of the final outside areas is littered with half-mountains and whatnot. I'm guessing the camera didn't pan that far in the original PSP version.
As an extra gripe: The PC version has a bug where, if Vsync is disabled, the double jump doesn't clear the snowy mountain entrance.

I beat Ys: The Oath in Felghana on PC and didn't experience any glitches or bugs. But given so many variant PC configurations, anything's possible.
Of the Ys games that use that engine, I found Oath to be the weakest of the bunch. I enjoyed Napishtim more than Oath. That said, Ys Origin is far and away better than Oath and Napishtim combined. Play Ys Origin and you're in for a grand time.

Another thing i forgot that may count.
I consider Sengoku 2 being the best of trilogy. Most people prefer Sengoku 3 as it have comlex combat system but for me it's very bland and boring game overall, while S2 stays as nice balance, having weird atmosphere and demon variety from Sengoku 1 but playing much better.
