Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
This discussion inspired me to fire up Road Rash 64 for the first time in years. There is not a game out there that makes me laugh harder. Tazing a guy and watching him helplessly veer into oncoming traffic never, ever gets old.
There's only about 6 or 7 N64 titles I care about today but damned if those games aren't insane multiplayer fun.

There are about 40 or so single-player games on N64 that I really enjoy.

The system had it's fair share of shortcomings, but it's a great console that I think gets an unfairly bad rap.BoneSnapDeez wrote:There are about 40 or so single-player games on N64 that I really enjoy.

I wasn't trying to discredit it in the pantheon that is gaming, just express that I could live without the console and the games it brought except maybe ocarina. I get the urge to play that every few years but like I mentioned its been outdone and is now widely available thanks to the 3DS and VC.
I did enjoy that it was the first console I ever played with four controller ports built in, but I never liked the controller and also was never able to afford more than two controllers in my youth anyways. Still smash bros and goldeneye and mario party saw their fair share of playtime in my console. But now if I want to do big multiplayer game nights I break out a board game or the wii u.

Oh, I know. It's not just here that I hear things against the N64, though; it seems, in general, to be the most often shat-upon of the three most major 5th gen consoles.strangenova wrote:I wasn't trying to discredit it in the pantheon that is gaming

Doesn't deserve it either, not entirely. It was less of a joke than the Saturn was if you stick with US retail borders and not the now-wide internet get what you want choices.

oh, this thread.
- i love Daikatana (PC). For me it's a great first person shooter with interesting level design, tons of fun weapons and beautiful music. Also a blast in multiplayer (too bad master servers died). Main issue - stupid AI bots - mostly fixed by 1.3 patch OR just play in co-op.
- i liked Final Fantasy II, at least PSP remake. I dunno why so much people tends to name it as worst FF or smth. Level up system, key letters etc. - these features were cool. Oh, and world map theme is absolutely beautiful.
- i hugely dislike System Shock 2, while i respect it's atmosphere, plot and music/sound, for me it's an overhyped broken mess. p.s. And i like System Shock 1 pretty much, haha.

The PSP remake, which is based on the GBA version if memory serves, is actually quite good. It removes a lot of the issues with the original release, which probably is the worst FF game.

I played the GBA remake. I liked it a lot, and I don't think it changed much from the Famicom original (from a gameplay perspective, at least). I could be wrong about that, however.Sarge wrote:The PSP remake, which is based on the GBA version if memory serves, is actually quite good. I'm onboard with enjoying System Shock 1 more than System Shock 2. If you're not too casual to deal with its interface, you're in for an awesome time.
