Y'know, ever since these SNES/NES/GEN clones came out I was interested in a "new" system but ever since people have been posting their test results with games not playing properly, I'm completely dissinterested now.
A used SNES/NES/GEN in good condition does not cost that much and it will play your games perfectly. I have several of each console in case one croaks but I don't ever think I'll want to get a clone that doesn't function as well as the original~

(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

I had to try the retro duo and I have to say that I am definetly impressed. I tried some games that people are talking about as trouble games. Zelda sound works great and sand is normal color. Castlevania III works great even sound gauntlet I and II work great games even seem to run more faster and smoother on this system. Either my nes is just worn out and not running good or this has much smoother performance even with snes games. I will be adding to more games that work soon.

Hrm, based on everything else I've read, you may be imagining things, there.

Zelda don't even slow down anywhere with lots of enemies on the screen same with super mario world. I still have more testing to do but I went through the forest of illusion where there was allot of stuff going on and even on snes some places stuff will flicker but on the duo it is smooth I completed about 20 random places to check this out. I wil be working more with zelda too. If there is a game someone would like me to try if I don't have it I will do my best to obtain it and try it.

SnowKitty wrote: the FC twin has been improved a bit, ive seen 2 mainboard revisions of it. the first version was fucking TERRIBLE. snes controllers other than the ones packed in with the system wouldnt work in NES mode, and the composite output for the snes side was worse than some RF output i've seen. the second one i had gave much better composite out and any snes controller worked in nes mode on it. oh and bte those claims that the zapper wont work on it are lies :P if you build a suitable adapter (like i did) the zapper will work. you will need to gut an NES controller extension cable and a snes controller extension cable to make one though. i doubt that this retro duo will be any better than the FC twin aside form the S-video out. if they added a 411 clone (lockout chip) then games like kirby superstar and mario RPG should work on it. but i'll bet the chipset is probably identical to the FC twin, much the same as all NES clones use the same NOAC chips
Anyone else been able to do this. I have tried with no luck. Maybe SnowKitty can help me with this.

did anyone figure out if it was region free?

I plugged in the couple of super famicom games i had, but they wouldn't run. I don't know if this is because the cart is shot or the system doesn't play it. I'm guessing that it isn't region free, but without a superfami to test the cart on I can't say for sure.

It has to be the cart. The only region lockout on the snes was little plastic tabs that prevented japanese cartridges from fitting in. All you had to do was snip them on your snes.

That's what i thought. The weird thing is- rushing beat (Rival turf! over here in the states) worked on my snes once i took the plastic tabs out, but still wouldn't work on my retro duo. And it isn't my retro duo because my copy of turrican 2 ran fine.

Maybe that particular game doesn't run on the Duo.
