I totally feel you on this. To that end, if anyone here is in North Carolina (preferably towards the middle of the state), I'd be willing to hand deliver games if anyone wanted to borrow something from me. It would most definitely restore that communal feel that gaming seems to have lost as well as eliminate the risk of damage during shipping to or from.

For me, forums such as Racketboy are the last bastion of communal gaming.

Unfortunately such dedicated forums seem to be on a decline. Replaced with online social apps directly built into console/PC hub systems or social media in general. The problem with that, is that while it promotes immediacy with known acquaintances, the method isn't inherent to attracting outlier intrusions or deeper discussion. Both aspects that forums do excel at. Sadly, lacking the real time conversational aspect (i.e. immediate gratification) and integration means forums are becoming antiquated relics. At least, in my research and experience.

Here's the thing...

If someone is going to borrow something - you, the borrower, are on the hook for the value of the game. Something goes wrong in shipping, you damage it, etc.

If your already acknowledging you are on the hook for, and can reimburse the lender promptly if something goes wrong...why borrow/lend at all?

Just buy that game you really really want to try out. When done, sell it.

There are no timelines, no late fees, no pm's asking if you're done yet, no worried lenders, no one complaining about your return packaging, no worry about being in a home w/cigarrettes or gross cats, etc.

I like floating copies in theory. I've participated in a few floating game experiences.

Inevitably some shithead ends up stealing it or it gets broken in the mail or what have you.

They always seem to result in disappointment.

And there in lies the problem. If you're like me it takes forever to sell games. Especially since I didn't want to sell my current ones on ebay because I'd rather sell on here but no one wants to buy said games which sucks...(I'm looking at you medal of honor ps1, midnight club 360, and a few others too bad no one wants those XD)

No offense darsparx, but I wouldn't lend a game to you anyway. I've seen how long it takes you to actually finish the things *cough*FinalFantasyPokémonYellow*cough*

Hey when you have people like my mom constantly telling me to get up and do things when she's home, adn the fact I always forget to take those portables with me on break it takes awhile to beat them. Of course ff1 has always been plagued with weird things happening when I've played it since reattempting it since joining this forum...and pokemon yellow yeah I've been watching too many videos while playing(specifically some DYKG  ). I just don't feel like I have time to focus(even though I've been attempting during the night since i've been off with pokemon yellow but ugh I always get stuck on that third gym for a little bit(and always reset to last save if I lose to Surge...). I think I actually made it past him last night then my sp died XD

I'll agree 100% with what mjmjr25 above has said. Its easier if you have the funds to just buy what you want to try and then resell it if you decide you're not into keeping it.

With all that said though, if anyone of my friends or trusted members here on RB wanted to borrow something from my collection, I'd wouldn't be opposed to letting them. To keep the risk down for both parties involved I'd probably hold onto any original boxes and manuals, and ship on the disc in a generic case or cart only (ala netflix or gamefly). That could help keep replacement costs down a should something go wrong and save a few cents on shipping each way.
