What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The only thing that was truly truly outrageous about it was that they called it Jem.

True, but nowhere near the (current) name recognition of Twilight or Hunger Games... arguably as recognizable as GI Joe, but even that's a stretch in my eyes.

But yeah... the whole "This isn't really Jem" part of the Jem movie also makes it not good.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
Chronically out of date BST thread

I saw people walking out when the credits started and I'm just sitting here going "Have you watched a Marvel movie in the last 15-20 years? Or read about one? Or known someone who's seen one? WHO WALKS OUT BEFORE THE END OF THE CREDITS ON A MARVEL MOVIE?!?"
Traditionally, I actually like waiting through the credits of a movie, not because I expect anything to be there, just so I have a couple minutes to allow everything I saw to process before I'm bombarded with more crap when I leave. It's just a few nice moments for me.

I remember when I saw Iron Man. A friend whom I went to the movie with left immediately when the credits started and pretty much the entire theater was gone by the time the stinger came up at the end.

So, when I came out of the theater and met back up with him he asked me, jokingly, oh was there anything at the end? And I told him ... yeah. And I explained the scene. He didn't believe a word I said. I may have also told him, there's nothing that could ever be shown in a comic movie post credits scene ever again as enriching and exciting as that one in Iron Man. It was almost like they were finally saying, after a decade of haphazard film adaptations, yes, we are doing this and we're doing it right.

I saw Deadpool tonight and, wow, talk about nailing it. I heard a lot of people complain about the love story and all that stuff, but in reality, that is part of the character's origins, so I don't have an issue with it (also, I felt that it was an asset to the film itself). I feel like everything in the movie played so much better in the context of the film. This really was something special to see as a fan of the character.

The movie even made Colossus Russian even though so many X-Men movies refused to do that. This thing is absolute gold.

The post credits scene ....
Talks about Cable in the sequel, which would be fantastic ... I understand they can't do the storyline where Deadpool perves out over Dazzler, because they're keeping his love interest around and it's far too soon to even think about Agent X or something. So going into Cable is a perfect angle, plus, there's the avenues in linking tighter to the X-Men movies and even getting X-Force going.

Everyone on planet Earth wants Stephen Lang for Cable, right? (or Keira Knightley)
Few comments on Jem:

Jem felt like, from the ads, a case of: studio has a middle-low budget script plus undeveloped property license. Put em in a sandwich and film it! The name "Jem" was only used to put butts in seats due to brand recognition, the project was obviously never originally conceived as a Jem adaptation. I believe they actually went back and did reshoots to tool in more Jem cartoon stuff once they released the first trailer and people reacted to the lack of things like Synergy.

Why'd the movie get released? Well, when it costs more to physically ship copies to theaters than it did to produce the film ... studios will likely bet it'll make it's money back ... sometimes. (They could have also had obligations from the licensees that it had to have a theatrical release if there was a release at all) Eventually, Jem will be a movie that made that studio a lot of money, because it cost next to nothing to make the entire thing. All they have to do is include it in a movie package to TNT or something.

Hell, maybe they didn't even realize anything was wrong until they released that first trailer.

Heh, in March this year, TCM is showing 27 movies that were given a Condemned rating by the Catholic League of Decency.

We'd gone far too long with no one making the reference.
