... Also, the Battery life is phenomenal! I think I got a few years on one set of 3 AAA batteries (very casual and infrequent use, but still). I wish I was tech savvy enough to customize the rom list, as that would make it a good portable.
At present, I use a GBA SP with a GBA Movie Player to play a light selection of SMS games. Beyond Columns and Woody Pop, it doesn't really play any GG games though. I think my SuperCard or EZ flash IV would, but I somehow enjoy working with the limitations of my movie player. And there's always PSP and DS too.
But I really ought to get my Gears back into shape (most of mine were project systems). And I have an everdrive that I haven't even touched yet. Got a shell all ready for it and everything. Just haven't felt the need just yet.
So yeah, a fan, just been taking a hiatus.
As for Game Gears and battery life, doing an LED mod to replace the lighting adds at least a few hours of gameplay (doubles it in my experience, around 13+ hours total on one set of alkalines, but I have yet to test on NiMH). I'm not doing the mods right now, but may offer again in the future. It's totally doable for the common gamer though (if a soldering iron doesn't strike fear in your heart). I still want to post a guide from my own twist on the project sometime.
I like to use 4-LEDs (2 on each side). I'd link my old sales thread for it, but it's such a mess, I'd like to keep it buried for now
