Well, I think I'm on the final stretch run of Brandish: The Dark Revenant. Finished the Dark Zone, in the Fortress now. The last few bits have been pretty un-fun. Getting 100% map completion for Cave B2 was lame (jumping into pits just to reveal pillars on the map that you can't get to unless you warp, and there's no point anyway). And while the first Dark Zone bit was annoying, the second was just... geez. Pitfalls everywhere. And they don't just hurt you, they send you back to the last floor. I probably burned 150+ steel balls there revealing pit traps, and it's the floor that's easily taken me the longest to clear.

In good news, though, I seem to be doing quite well on equipment and leveling. I ran into some massive enemies that are apparently easiest to kill with magic, and between that and some of the Dark Zone enemies, I've almost got my magic stat caught up with my strength. Magic is surprisingly useful at times, much more than I gave it credit for.

Anyway, hoping I can finish it off this weekend, maybe even tonight. Depends on how much insanity it throws at me. I'm sure it's not as insane as Dela mode, though.

Yep. Dela mode makes Ares mode look easy.

Even if you only finish Ares mode, that's impressive enough right there. :)

As I recall, I had to do all the quests plus some additional grinding to reach a high enough level to get through that battle.
This is what I did. All quests are done. And if you consider like 5 or 6 hours of playing with others online as "some additional grinding" then...

Last time I beat THE GAME, I was level 35. I'm more than halfway there at level 20, and get wrecked by the second boss. I just hate him so much. He's the worst in the game. The 3 other bosses are so much easier.
I agree.

Dragon can be steamrolled easily if your level is high enough.
Hardest part about the third boss is the camera angles.
Final boss has those one-hit-kill moves but by then you have scape dolls and protective gear.

Second boss is an annoying anomaly.

Ugh started playing Sorcerer's Kingdom for the first time today. This game is... not good. It's like they took all the elements from a rogue-like that weren't fun and added an extra layer of suck. I'm hoping the game improves as my character get's tougher but not sure how much more I can stomach. You start off ridiculously weak, and can only tackle a single enemy before running back to the inn to rest and save. Dying is instant game over. But I'm already to the second area and it's still fight, run away, heal and save. Rinse repeat. I can't grind on weaker enemies because they randomly just stop spawning after awhile.

Heh. I always thought that was a Western game. Turns out I was mixing it up with The Faery Tale Adventure.

Actually I take back everything I just wrote. I saved up enough money for some decent equipment and the game suddenly became kind of awesome.

Yeah... Faery Tale Adventure is another game I found not fun. But I couldn't get very far in it either. The narrative that plays out as the brothers slowly die off is hilarious though. You don't get lives so much as you just control an avenging brother. Once all three have died so does your family's legacy and the it's game over. There's some nice flavor text to go with it too.

Deep Dungeon is done. What an arduous game.

I'll be moving right on to Deep Dungeon II. It's a mission-pack sequel that allows the saves from the first game to be imported. I figure that if I don't play it now I never will.

Pokemon Yellow - using nugget bridge to train my bulbasaur before attempting misty. Yeah I know I could power through it with pikachu alone right now but where's the fun in not having a second one to power through it?

I put 4 hours into Valkyrie Profile 2 yesterday. I am in love with the game so far.

First off the graphics are insane, this almost looks like a PS3 game. The story is actually interesting and easier to follow than the first VP. The combat system kicks ass and is a nice mix of real time and turn based. Music's fantastic. Level traversal is still entertaining thanks to its platforming elements. I don't know why I never hear anyone talk about this game, so far I've been blown away.
