I'm weeb trash and I love a lot of anime bullshit sort of stuff but I can't stomach some Japanese games depictions of women.

Ya know, it's one thing to build up to a romantic climax where maybe you see some action but within five minutes of playing Dungeon Travelers 2 you get a very revealing panty-shot because some chick tripped over another and oh how embarrassing tee-hee!

Look. I like butts. I don't like butts for the sake of butts. Especially teenage ones. I guess I'm not quite the target market.

I'm more of the mecha weeb trash I guess.

I'm trying to think of a Japanese game that has a strong female lead that isn't Bayonetta and I can't really think of one off the top of my head.

Beat me to it. I'll also throw in Final Fantasy VI and XIII.

Resident Evil. Both Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield are very strong female leads.

You're not. I am though, and I don't mind the copious suddenly pantsu.

There are lots. I just bought Drakengard 3 tonight for example and it has one such lead.

Are the other Drakengard games more fun and less horribly voice-acted and paced than the first one? I bought both 1 and 2 after loving the hell out of Nier, but damn that game is like Nier with all of the engaging elements ripped out of it. I am SO glad Kaim loses his voice in the first level, because oh my god, was his voice acting horrible. Anyway, the first one just turned me off so much after the first 4 or 5 hours that I didn't even give the second one a chance, which is kind of a shame, after paying so much for it :/

Also, I'm totally with you, Slayer. I don't really care for Japanese Anime narrative tropes, but I can't stand fan service. Maybe it's just because I'm Asexual, but damn I just feel like it slows the game down so much with something that doesn't add to the narrative or plot in any way :/
On a side note, I really love when games make fun of how fan-servicey their art-styles are. I had many a laugh at Project X Zone's writing poking fun at the 'single-strap' dress of the main heroin.

Just look up Drakengard 3. It looks nothing like the first two games and seems to be more of a direct spinoff of Nier, gameplay wise as well (I know they're weirdly related, but yeah I basically mean gameplay wise as well here). It doesn't play like a DW clone like the originals.

The music for the first two Drakengard's seems awesome, and the stories seem super bonkers and weird... but everything else looks pretty terrible to me.

Was flitting about on klov (still hoping to find a dedicated Pac-Man cab, a Nintendo Vs cab, or maaaybe a Capcom Big Blue at a reasonable price within driving distance)... and I saw someone selling Lady Bug boards at $135 shipped.

Now many of you may not be familiar with Lady Bug, but it's a pseudo-Pac-Man type game that was ported to the Colecovision back in the day. It's also my dad's favorite old video game from the Colecovision we got. Part of me kinda wants to buy one just so I can surprise him one day on one of my candy cabs.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed
