Re: white screen of death?
i just sent him an email about swapping this cdx out, i honestly think it was damaged in shipping if anything but...if anyone does have information on this same issue...let me know.
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

I've used a CDX pretty regularly for 3 or 4 years and have never had a problem with it doing any of the things you mentioned. Plain and simple, you have a broken one and should get your money refunded. If the packaging still looked ok (it didn't look like it would have been damaged in shipping), then at the very least this "nice guy" sent you an untested unit. I wouldn't buy anything else from him (or swap one out with the same seller).lost_within wrote:i just sent him an email about swapping this cdx out, i honestly think it was damaged in shipping if anything but...if anyone does have information on this same issue...let me know.

Well to save time im also going to take this to a repair shop and see what they think today, mostly due to the condition. This thing is extremly clean so if i can get it repaired...works for me.

I think Mod_Man_Extreme might be confusing the CDX with a Saturn or something. There is no "swap trick" for any Sega CD hardware as CD burning hardware was so expensive at the time, there was no need for copy protection. Also, if your CDX is getting as hot as Mod_Man_Extreme's is, it definitely needs to be repaired. It should not get so hot as to explode the batteries inside.
As for the CD, I would actually start to suspect the laser to be part of the culprit. Having a dirty laser can give you all sorts of funky problems. A cheap fix/test would be to pick up one of those $5 CD cleaning kits that have the little plastic nubs on the bottom of the CD. If there is any dust or dirt on it, it will clean it, and your CDX should be as good as new.
As for the cart connector, since you have gotten games to play, you know that side of the console isn't dead. However, since you're having problems with multiple games, unless all your games haven't been cleaned lately, it's probably not the cartridges. It seems more likely to me to be your cartridge connector. Give a quick peek in there and see if you can spot any problems or if it needs a cleaning.
