Ive recently checked out some videos of the 2008 EVO MVC2 finals. Are there any tournament players that don't use a team incorporating, Sentinel, storm, or magneto?
Is the game THAT unbalanced?
Do people that choose other characters just get taken out in the preliminary's?
MVC2 inquiry
Re: MVC2 inquiry
Yes, MvC2 is tremendously unbalanced. It's kinda the most notorious aspect of it for serious 2D fighting fans. To the uncultured swine that are most vidya game fans though, they considered it the best fighting game ever. All it takes is screen-filling supers and 100+ hit combos to impress most people.
Re: MVC2 inquiry
Well, everyone picks Chun-Li in 3rd Strike.
Re: MVC2 inquiry
agreed. its the most unbalanced, CHAOTIC fighting game ive ever played, some times the pace of the matches go so fast i get cross eyed trying to keep up with the players at my local arcade i just give up and watch me get killedthe7k wrote:Yes, MvC2 is tremendously unbalanced. Online for SF4 I havn't ran into another Chun player. Kens though..... in 150 matches 100-110 of them have been against Ken players.
MVC2 is way to chaotic for my taste, Guilty Gear is about as seizure inducing as I'll go with fighting games.
Re: MVC2 inquiry
Is it just that, Storm, Magneto, and Sentinel are very good? or, is it actually to the point where its impossible for a proficient player to pose a challenge with other characters?
Re: MVC2 inquiry
I've been watching the SoCal Ranbats of Street Fighter 3 and the top player is almost always a Yun player, but Ken and Chun-Li sometimes take top honors. Alex, Dudley, and Urien rank pretty well, too.
But I kinda find it's that way with most fighting games, even the best. There are some characters everyone wants to play and some nobody will.

I've never let myself get too competitive when it comes to fighting games. My critera is the hottest female who's moves I can pull off.

Look up the tourny player VDO. He is known for whooping on people with characters that are considered low tier in MVC2. I believe his usual team is Rogue, Colossus, and Ken.
Re: MVC2 inquiry
To the people that say people only play as Ken or Chun Li in SF3; I play as Elena, Makoto and Dudley. I'll never play as a character that has been in every SF game since the beginning of time, it's like asking for every one of your moves to get parried.
And for the reason people play as Magneto and Storm, here is your reason.
Does that look like fun to you? Cuz it doesn't look like fun to me!
