Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I'd rather have a nice TV with a high quality switchbox and input scaler, than just a gaggle of TVs to accommodate the same thing. I guess I'm a bit of a utilitarian.

Same here. I have one widescreen Sony WEGA HD CRT hooked up to a HDMI switch, a component video switch, and a S-video switch. I can't play light gun games on it, but I can hook up a ton of consoles.Exhuminator wrote:I'd rather have a nice TV with a high quality switchbox and input scaler, than just a gaggle of TVs to accommodate the same thing. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yeah I have two TVs. HDTV for new stuff, an old Wega for retro consoles.
I wish I had more space to keep the Intellivision, ColecoVision, Dreamcast and Neo Geo hooked up 24/7 but whatevs. Maybe a third TV?

That's the setup I have; I've got my HDTV being fed by an X-RGB3 (and switchboxes feeding that) as well as a Component switch and an HDMI switch. Every single console in my Backloggery is hooked up to this except for the NES and the SMS; those are in my bedroom. The bedroom has my CRT from college and I keep those two on it for the light gun support (though I got rid of my SMS light gun games).Exhuminator wrote:I'd rather have a nice TV with a high quality switchbox and input scaler, than just a gaggle of TVs to accommodate the same thing. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
My living room HDTV has two HDMI inputs. One is taken up by a Micca Speck G2. The other port is fed by an HDMI switch to accommodate the 360/PS3. And the Wii feeds into the HDTV's component input.
My dork cave's CRT s-video input is fed by an s-video switch that takes in the Game Cube/PS2/OG Xbox. All of those consoles are outputting s-video to the switch as well. S-video looks really great on that CRT.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
So a bunch of the devs who made Descent are now going to Kickstarter to make an unofficial Descent IV:
They're focusing on going back to the gameplay of Descent I & II.
